DESCRIPTION - HEADLAMP WASHER - Alfa Romeo 159 1.9 JTD 8V Fino a 12/05
The headlamp washer cleans the headlamp lenses as the windscreen is being cleaned.The headlamp washer function is managed by the Body Computer which automatically activates the headlamp washer, with the dipped headlamps on, when the windscreen washers are activated through the lever on the right of the steering wheel.The headlamp washer consists of a pump that sends detergent to two nozzles located in the bumpers which spray a powerful jet onto the headlamps.A timer activates the headlamp washer pump by means of a series of pulses lasting about half a second.The headlamp washer circuit is protected by a fuse and governed by a special relay located in the engine compartment junction unit.

The relay T17 in the engine compartment junction unit B1 receives a power supply from the line for fuse F9, from the engine compartment junction unit B1, whilst the energizing takes place through the ignition-operated line (INT/A) from fuse F31 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2.The relay operates the headlamp washer pump N25 directly when an earth signal arrives from the Body Computer M1; this signal - from pin 14 of connector A - is sent on the basis of the positive windscreen washer request signal coming from the steering column switch unit H5 - pin 5 of connector A and in the presence of the dipped headlamps on enablement (pin 2 of connector I and pin 28 of connector G of M1).
