DescriptionThe front courtesy light includes two courtesy lights which operate differently according to the position of the two control switches. With the switches in the right position, the lights come on, whilst in the left position their operation is completely excluded. In the centre position, the lights come on for a timed period when the doors are opened or when the locks are released using the key or the remote control. Both rear interior lights contain a courtesy light that operates in different modes according to the position of the lens, which operates an internal switch.neutral position: light comes on for a timed period when the doors are opened;positioned to one side: lights always off;positioned to the other side: light always on.Courtesy light timing is controlled by control panel control unit sofware as follows:When any of the four doors is opened, all front and rear courtesy lights are operated for a timed period.timed period of 8 seconds when a previously-opened door is reclosed; timing is suspended when the key is turned to MAR (this function allows the driver to enter the car and insert the key in the ignition)timed interval of 3 minutes if one of the doors is left open (this function prevents the battery going flat if the car is left with a door open)When one of the other doors is opened, the current timer count is reset to zero. The courtesy light circuit is protected by a special junction unit fuse. one fuse also protects the supply line controlled by the ignition for the control unit in the control panel.
Functional description The supply for all the courtesy lights arrives directly from the battery via the line for maxifuse CENTR of B5 and fuse F17 of junction unit B1 . The interior lights G10 (front) and G25 and G26 (rear) are switched on - depending on the positions of their internal switch - by an earth signal which is direct (permanently on) or timed. However, the lights on the doors (front left G51 , front right G52 , rear left G55 and rear right G56 ) only ever come on for a timed period. The timed period is managed by the special courtesy lights relay J42 , supplied directly by the battery via the line for maxifuse CENTR of B5 and protected by fuse F17 of junction unit B1 . The timed period is operated by the instrument panel E50 , which sends the signal (from pin 11 of connector B to pin 85 of timer J42 ) as soon as at leas one of the doors is opened via switches N50A , N51B , N55 and N56 , connected to pins 14, 15, 16 and 17 of connector B of E50 , respectively. The timing is interrupted when the ignition 'on' signal is received, which reaches the instrument E50 from the ignition-operated line (INT/A) of the panel - pin 15 of connector A of E50 - through fuse F1 of junction unit B1 . Timing starts from the beginning again if the doors are unlocked via the safety knob: these signals reach the instrument E50 - to pin 12 of connector B - through the switches on the knobs, located in N50A and N51A . The timed period is also activated when the door locks are released using the key or the remote control. This signal comes from switches N50A and N51A and reaches pin 87A of J42 (the same signal reaches the central locking control unit - 3309443SeeE3040CENTRAL LOCKING ).
