The intruder alarm system offers volumetric and perimeter protection.A control unit (inside the Body Computer) controls:status of doors, boot and bonnet via switches in the locks (perimeter control);the presence of a moving object inside the passenger compartment, via volumetric sensors. (volumetric control)the condition of system supply leads;operation of the ignition switch.The control unit is equipped with an autodiagnostic function which detects and memorizes faults in the control unit itself and the system components; it also checks the condition of link cables and stores the number of activations and the number of alarms.The control unit operating software may be altered to meet regulations governing the use of alarm systems applicable in different markets.For more details.The alarm siren is located at the front, under a Locary on the left of the engine compartment.The remote control system consists of a sending unit built into the key and a receiver built into the Body Computer.The same switches as for the central locking system are used to control the doors and lids. A special switch detects bonnet closure. (A buzzer goes off if the body computer detects that one of the doors or the boot is open and the car is travelling faster than 5 km/h).The volumetric sensors check for car intruders. They are located in the two centre pillars. Both are twin sensors, i.e. consisting of an emitter and a receiver: the wave transmitted by an emitter should reach the receiver of the other sensor and viceversa: if this is not the case, an alarm signal is sent to the control unit.The deterrent LED is located on the central control panel and indicates the state of the system (on, off, etc. ) plus any faults.All external components are connected to the Body Computer via a dedicated serial line.

Functional description - ALARM - Alfa Romeo GT 1.8 T.SPARK

The alarm system is managed by an alarm control unit built into Body ComputerM1: it is supplied from the battery from the line of maxifuse CPL B99 - (B5 for the 3.2 V6 engine). pin 18 of connector F and from the line protected by fuse F39 pin 16 of connector F; the supply controlled by the ignition (INT) reaches pin 9.Body Computer M1 receives door open input signals at pin 8 (left door) and 25 (right door) of connector E (the same signals turn on the timed lights ). The bonnet lid is controlled by switch I10, which is connected to pin 24 of connector A of M1, while the boot lid is controlled by switch I11, which is connected to pin 36 of connector E (the same switch turns on the boot light via a different contact. SirenP90 is supplied by Body Computer M1, from pin 34 of connector A, and is connected to pin 25 via a dedicated serial line. Volumetric sensorsK62 are supplied by Body Computer M1, from pin 39 of connector E, and connected via a dedicated serial line to pin 7. Aerial receiverP93 sends Body Computer M1 a signal controlling the doors and also the alarm signal by connecting to pins 21 and 31 of connector A. A deterrent led control signal is sent from Body ComputerM1, from pin 14 of connector C, to turn on the led in the hazard light, fog lamp, rear fog lamp control unit H12. Body ComputerM1 connects to instrument panel E50 via the CAN line. The computer sends a signal that turns on the door open warning light when required.
