DESCRIPTION - AIR CONDITIONING - Fiat 500 1.3 Multijet

The manually operated air conditioning system integrates the heater with the function of producing cold and dehumidified air achieved by switching on the compressor and the cooling system.The vehicle climate control system is operated using the four control knobs:the left-hand knob mechanically controls the hot and cold air mixing (22 positions);the left middle knob allows the regulation, through an electrical control, of the air ventilation at four different speeds (4 positions) and the engagement of the compressor by pressing the ring nut;the right middle knob makes it possible to select whether or not to set the "recirculation" function which prevents the intake of new air into the passenger compartment.the right knob mechanically controls the opening of the flaps that regulate the distribution of air flows (5 positions).The transmission of the air mixing, air distribution and recirculation commands from the knobs to the climate control casing takes place by means of bowden cables.With the compressor enabled, the on switch does not allow the user to zero the fan speed (turn the knob to zero) to prevent the evaporator from freezing.An LED in the knob allows the compressor status (activated/deactivated) to be signalled.The electronic thermostat is designed to detect the formation of ice on the evaporator allowing the compressor to be disabled to prevent the evaporator from freezing.For further details,The fan is controlled by a dedicated relay and is protected by a dedicated fuse located in the engine compartment junction unit.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION - AIR CONDITIONING - Fiat 500 1.3 Multijet

The passenger compartment air fan N085 receives a power supply along the line operated by relay T08 and protected by fuse F08 both located in the engine compartment junction unit B001 (pin 63 of connector B).The coil for relay T08 of B001 (pin 45 of connector B) receives an ignition-controlled power supply (INT/A) along the line protected by fuse F31 of the Body Computer M001 (pin 21 of connector C). This line is excluded during engine starting.The speed of fan N085 is regulated through the H080 fan control which, via the O030 regulating resistance, allows the fan motor to be connected to earth through different resistance values, thereby regulating the speed.If the ring nut is pressed with the selector set to at least the first speed, the climate control system H080 (pin 2 of connector B) sends the compressor engagement request to the electronic thermostat N086.Depending on the temperature measured by the sensor on the evaporator, N086 enables the engagement of the compressor by means of a positive signal sent to pin 49 of connector B of the Body Computer M001.The LED in the ring nut signals that the compressor has been switched on.Switching the side lights on (pin 51 of connector D of M001) turns the two air conditioning/heater control lights on G045 A and B by means of a dedicated positive signal supplied by pin 12 of connector B of the Body Computer.
