DESCRIPTION - PARKING SENSOR - Fiat BRAVO 1.4 16v

The "Parking Assistance" system supplies the driver with information on distance when approaching obstacles (both behind and in front of the vehicle) thereby providing help with parking manoeuvres and identifying obstacles that are outside the field of vision. The de-luxe version has four rear sensors and four front sensors and is helpful not only when the vehicle is getting to close to obstacles at the rear but also obstacles in front of it.The driver is notified of the presence and distance of the obstacle from the vehicle by an acoustic signal which varies depending on the distance from the obstacle (as the distance from the obstacle decreases the frequency of the acoustic signal increases). The system is activated if the following conditions are present simultaneously:- key ON- reverse gear engaged (with the speed below 15km/h)- activation button - located in the control panel in the middle of the dashboard, right side - pressed (with the speed below 15 km/h).When the system is activated the buzzer warns of this condition and the LED next to the button is lit up.The system is deactivated:- by pressing the button again;- by disengaging reverse gear and when the vehicle speed is above 18 km/h.The LED goes out when the system is deactivated.767The distance measurement only takes place when the system is activated, whilst only the control unit is operational in the inactive state. An electronic control unit activates and controls the operation of the sensors located in the front bumper and in the rear bumper, processes the signals received and operates the buzzers, one at the front and one at the back: the first is located on the cover under the dashboard on the driver''s side, the second is located in the luggage compartment at the base of the right rear pillar. The sensors use ultrasound technology and act as intelligent transmitters/receivers with triangulation technology. They allow improved detection in critical situations or in the presence of small obstacles. The impulses emitted are reflected by any obstacles; the transducer receives an echo which is converted into a digital signal and sent to the electronic control unit. For more details and information on the operation of the system,The control unit is equipped with a self-diagnostic function: when switched on the control unit carries out an initial test on the sensors which are then continuously subject to fault diagnosis during the operation of the system.A fault in only one sensor inhibits the operation of the entire system which is deactivated.Any faults/errors are signaled in the instrument panel by the relevant warning light coming on and the message in the display. The system receives an ignition-controlled supply (INT) from the circuit protected by a dedicated fuse in the junction unit under the dashboard.767If there is a trailer, rear obstacles are not signalled thanks to a dedicated connection between the control unit and a socket in the tow hook.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION - PARKING SENSOR - Fiat BRAVO 1.4 16v

The parking sensor control unit M84 receives a supply at pin 1 of connector A from the ignition-controlled INT line protected by fuse F51 of junction unit B2; pin 7 of connector A is earthed. The control unit is connected, via pins 6 and 12 of connector A and the CAN, to all the other nodes in the same network, for example receiving the information that reverse gear is engaged. The commands for the display are sent to the instrument panel via the CAN.The signal from the activation/deactivation button, located in the control panel in the middle of the dashboard, left side H90A, reaches pin 8 of connector A; a positive signal is sent from pin 3 of connector A lighting up the LED next to the button. The four rear parking sensors K97 are connected to connector B of the control unit M84: pin 8 provides the reference earth, pin 4 the power supply, pins 1, 2, 3 and 5 are connected to sensors K97E, K97F, K97G and K97H, respectively. The rear buzzer P44B is connected to pins 2 and 5 of connector A of M84.The four front parking sensors K97 are connected to connector C of the control unit M84: pin 8 provides the reference earth, pin 1 the power supply, pins 11, 10, 5 and 4 are connected to sensors K97A, K97B, K97C and K97D, respectively. The front buzzer P44A is connected to pins 1 and 14 of connector C.767If there is a trailer, rear obstacles are not signalled thanks to a dedicated connection between the control unit - pin 6 of connector B of control unit M84 - and a socket in the tow hook: this connection is made in the aftermarket when the tow hook is fitted.
