Description - CODE - Fiat DOBLO 1.9 JTD 8V da 12/03

To increase protection against theft attempts, an electronic immobilizer system known as the ''FIAT CODE-2'' system has been adopted. The keys are fitted with an electronic Transponder device, which sends a coded signal to a special CODE electronic control unit. If it recognizes the code sent, it allows the engine to be started up.The code used in the communication, which takes place via aerial, changes each time the car is started up (rolling code). The code cannot therefore be reproduced, even with electronic scanners. The body computer has the task of recognizing the key inserted in the ignition: in effect, the computer contains the secret code used in the dialogue with the key transponder. The body computer contains all enabled key codes in its memory, together with the code used in the communication between the body computer and the engine management unit. When the key is turned to MAR for for the first time, if the key is identified correctly, the code is transferred to the engine management unit and is then indelibly linked to the body computer. The Code system has supply lines for the control unit protected by the maxifuse which also protects the engine management system, by the supply fuses for the body computer and the instrument panel locted in the junction unit under the dashboard.

Functional description - CODE - Fiat DOBLO 1.9 JTD 8V da 12/03

The supply for the body computer M01 is both controlled by the ignition and direct to pin 11 of connector E (INT) and pin A of connector C of the junction unit under the dashboard B02 .There is a protective fuse F1 for the direct supply located in the engine compartment junction unit B01 .These lines also supply the instrument panel and split inside the junction unit under the dashboard B02 (MAXIFUSE). The lines are protected by fuses F37 and F53.Pins 8 and 9 connector D of the body computer M01 are connected to earth. This reference signal is also supplied to the panel via pin 36 of connector F of the body computer.Pins 4 and 5 of connector C of the body computer M01 are connected by two cables to the aerial P91 , fitted coaxially on the ignition switch, in order to detect the insertion and the rotation of a key with a transponder. The body computer M01 communicates with the engine management control unit M10 via pins 36 and 37 (CAN line) connector C of the body computer and pins 6 and 7 of connector B of the engine management control unit (for the 1910 D version, pins 1 and 2). The recognition of the key and the exchange of codes takes place through this line. The engine management control unit M10 sends a diagnostic signal (K line) from pin 48 connector B (for the 1910 D version, pin 33) to pin 20 connector C of the body computer. The diagnostic line is connected to pin 7 connector B of the body computer M01 . The autodiagnostic system also produces a signal for the display of the ''EOBD and engine management system failure'' and ''vehicle protection system failure'' warning lights located in the instrument panel E50 at the intake for pins 8 and 9 connector A.
