DESCRIPTION - DIPPED HEADLAMPS - Fiat GRANDE PUNTO 1.2 8v
The vehicle is equipped with two dipped beams in the headlamps. The dipped beams are activated by turning a wheel on the stalk switch to the next position after the side light setting. The switching on of the low beams is managed by the Body Computer.A special relay in the engine compartment junction unit controls activation of the low beams via two lines protected by specific fuses. The low beam activation relay is controlled by the Body Computer relay excitation is activated via a specific stalk unit control signal. With the dipped headlamps on, the simultaneous presence of the main beam and fog lights commands disables the dipped headlamps. The subsequent deactivation of one of these two commands, with the dipped headlamps control still on, involves the dipped headlamps being turned back on.The "Follow me home" function allows the dipped headlamps and the side lights to remain on even after the engine has been switched off (key in OFF position) for a period of 30 seconds or multiples thereof. The side lights warning light in the instrument panel signals that the lights have remained on. It is turned on using the lever in the same way as for activating the flasher within 2 minutes of the ignition being switched OFF: each time the lever is operated the length of time the lights remain on is increased by 30 seconds, up to a maximum of 210 seconds. Inserting the TEG or keeping the flasher lever pulled for more than 2 seconds eliminates the function.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION - DIPPED HEADLAMPS - Fiat GRANDE PUNTO 1.2 8v
A single signal (earth) is sent from stalk unit H5 to Body Computer M1 to manage both side lights and low beams: from pin 3 of H5 to pin 38 of connector D of M1; the signal sent is coded through various resistance partitions so that multiple information is sent to the Body Computer via a single connection. The reference earth reaches pin 10 of H5 from pin 34 of connector D of M1.IBody Computer M1 - connector G - is supplied directly by the battery from a line protected by maxifuse F2 of engine compartment control unit B1; it is suppiled via the ignition (INT) at pin 32 of connector D; pin 10 of connector H of M1 supplies a reference earth to the Body Computer.3The Body Computer M1 controls the supply for the dipped headlamps sending an earth signal to relay T3 in the junction unit in the engine compartment B1 from pin 16 of connector A of M1 which energizes relay T3: this supplies the dipped headlamps F10 (left) and F11 (right). Each circuit is protected by a fuse in the junction unit B1 : F14 for the left headlamp and F15 for the right.
