DESCRIPTION - CRUISE CONTROL - Fiat GRANDE PUNTO 1.4 16v

The Cruise Control function - constant speed governor - allows the driver to drive the car at a constant speed without pressing the accelerator pedal. The function is managed by the engine control unit. This receives commands from a Cruise Control lever on the left of the steering wheel built into the steering wheel stalk unit. The function is turn on by turning the appropriate wheel (Cruise activated to ON). Moving the lever memorizes an increase (+) or decrease (-) in the speed; this remains stored in the memory and can be restored at any time by pressing the RES (resume) button. The function is automatically deactivated:- by pressing the brake pedal;- by pressing the clutch pedal;- by turning the wheel to "OFF";- by turning off the engine. In such cases, the last speed achieved is stored and can be recalled by pressing the RES button. The system also deactivates at speeds below the minimum permitted speed (about 30 km/h)With the system activated, the warning light in the instrument panel comes on, connected via the CAN to the engine management control unit. For more details

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION - CRUISE CONTROL - Fiat GRANDE PUNTO 1.4 16v

The Cruise Control function is managed by engine management control unit M10 upon a request by Cruise Control system control built into steering wheel stalk unit H5.A single signal is sent from stalk unit H5 to Body Computer M1, which manages all the Cruise Control commands: from pin 8 of H5 to pin 41 of connector D of M1; the signal sent is coded through resistance dividers so that multiple information can be sent through a single connection from the stalk unit to the Body Computer. The reference earth is received at pin 10 f H5 from pin 34 of connector D of M1.Body Computer M1 - connector G - is supplied directly from the battery from a line protected by maxifuse F2 of engine compartment control unit B1. It is ignition-operated (INT) at pin 32 of connector D. Pin 10 of connector H of M1 supplies a reference earth to the Body Computer. The control unit M10 also uses the "pedal released" signals (N.C. contact) coming from the second brake lights switch contact I30 and the signal coming from the clutch switch I31 to manage the Cruise Control function.Engine management control unit M10 connects via the CAN line to the Body Computer and instrument panel E50 to manage the Cruise Control on warning light.
