DescriptionThe vehicle is equipped with two dipped headlamps in the light clusters. The dipped beam headlamps are switched on through the steering column switch by turning the specific ring to the position after the side lights.A special relay - in the underdashboard control unit - controls the switching on of the dipped headamps via two lines protected by special fuses. The relay for switching on the dipped headlamps is managed by the Body Computer: the energizing of the relay is activated by the go ahead signals with the ignition key in the ON position (INT) and by the specific signal from the steering column switch unit. With the dipped headlamps on, the simultaneous presence of the main beam headlamps and fog lights commands disables the dipped headlamps. The subsequent deactivation of one of these two controls, with the dipped headlamps on, means that the dipped headlamps have to be switched on again. The dipped headlamps are activated automatically, via the dusk sensor, if the AUTO function is set on the steering column switch unit. The dusk sensor is an infrared device that operates at different levels of sensitivity. When the dusk sensor is activated, a message appears on the control panel display that indicates a preset sensitivity level (from 1 to 3). This intensity may be adjusted using the 'Mode +' and 'Mode -' keys.
Functional description The dipped headlamps activation and AUTO function (earth) signal is sent to pin 2 of connector I of the Body Computer M1 from the steering column switch unit H5 The dipped headlamps are automatically activated by the dusk sensor K125 (signal via the A-BUS line to pin 7 of connector D of M1); The dusk sensor K125 is supplied from the INT line protected by fuse F49 of junction unit B2. The Body Computer M1 controls the supply of the dipped headlamps sending an earth signal to the underdashboard control unit B2 - from pin 8 of connector F of M1 - which energizes the relay T1: this supplies the dipped headlamps F10 (left) and F11 (right). Each circuit is protected by a junction unit B2 fuse F13 for the left headlamp and F12 for the right one.

Prepare the vehiclecomplete with spare wheel, tools, fluids, fuel reserve and driveron board. Check that the tyre inflation pressureis correct.Place the headlamp alignment switch inposition '0'.Position the vehicle on a flat surface, perpendicular to a screen or an opaque surface, 10 metres away, which contains the following lines. 1. V - V: vertical line corresponding to the plot of the plane ofsymmetry of the vehicle.2. C - C: plots of the vertical planes passing through the referencecentres of the lights clusters. 3. HC - HC: horizontal line corresponding to the height from theground of the reference centres for the lights clusters. 4. AC - AC: horizontal line 12 cm below the HC - HC line.5.
