Location of componentsComponents DescriptionThe navigation system informs you of the vehicle's position on the map (in relation to both urban and non-urban/motorway road networks). In this way, the driver is taken to the desired destination, guided step-by-step by voice messages and visual information. The system also provides additional information for reaching services of general interest, such as hotels, car parks, restaurants, chemists, service stations, hospitals, FIAT service outlets, railway stations, airports, etc.The navigator is incorporated in the radio unit: it is a BOSCH radio navigator personalized especially for the FIAT MULTIPLA.The navigation system uses the GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite location technology; it has the following functions:vehicle locationcalculation of the routeidentification of 'route guidance' manoeuvresmanagement of the map data base (on CD-ROM)
The navigation CD-ROM reader is located in the unit itself.768
| 767The navigation system only operates with the CD-ROM inserted in the special drive. however it is possible to listen to a music CD during navigation. In this case, the navigation function requires the map CD to be inserted during execution of the route calculation procedures. |

The GPS system consists of an aerial which allows the GPS satellite location of the vehicle: the aerial is connected to the relevant receiver, located in the integrated unit, via a specific shielded cable. The GPS aerial is fitted on the interior rear view mirror. The vehicle position is identified by the analysis of the GPS data and the speedometer and reverse gear signals coming from the car. This position is shown on the monochromatic display in the centre of the radionavigator.768On the CONNECT version with a NAVIGATOR it is not possible to have a direct connection between the radio and the GSM/GPS aerial. A special GSM BOX, located in the glove compartment, is fitted to act as an electronic interface. It receives a supply when the ignition is switched on (INT) (pin 7 of connector A) via the line for fuse F1 of the junction unit B1 . Pin 6 of connector A receives the supply with the side lights switched on via the line protected by fuse F2 located in the junction unit B1 See E2010 SIDE LIGHTS / NO. PLATE LIGHTS . Pin 8 of connector A is earthed.Connector B sends out cables carrying signals to the speakers:pins 5 and 6 to the left front speakers P35 and P45 ;pins 3 and 4 to the right front speakers P36 and P46; pins 7 and 8 to the left rear speakers P40 ;pins 1 and 2 for the right rear speakers P41 .
Pin 1 receives a speedometer signal from instrument E50. Pin 3 receives a reverse engaged signal from switch I202888892SeeE2022REVERSING LIGHTS . The GSM BOX interface electronic device P131 is supplied directly (pin 11); it also receives a supply controlled by the ignition (INT) (pin 10) via the line for fuse F1 of the junction unit B1 . Pin 1 is earthed. Pins 9 and 18 are connected to the microphone P26 ; pins 16, 7 and 4 (outputs to speakers) are connected to navigation system P20, connector D.
