Description - COURTESY LIGHTS - Fiat STILO 1.2 16v da 07/02 a 06/03

The front courtesy light includes three lamps with three control switches:the corresponding spot light can be switched on using external switches.the centre switch can be used to switch the centre light on or off and the switching on is also subject to a delay timer as described below. On versions with a sun roof there are two rear courtesy lights that can be switched on or off using the switch or with a timed delay as described below. The front courtesy light lighting delay is based on a logic managed by the Body Computer whilst the rear courtesy light is operated by the door control units in accordance with a logic transmitted by the Body Computer via the CAN:when one of the doors is opened, the courtesy light timing delay is 3 minutes;if another door is opened whilst the door is opened, the delay of three minutes starts again from zero;if a door remains open for longer than three minutes, the courtesy lights go out and remain off until one of the doors is opened again;if all the doors are closed during the 3 minute delay period, a second delay period of 20 seconds is activated and is interrupted if the ignition key is turned to the ON position;when the doors is opened using the remote control (or Passive Entry), the front courtesy lights come on for 20 seconds; the delay period is interrupted if the ignition key is turned ON;when the vehicle is closed with the door locking, the courtesy lights are switched off.The switching on or off should take place gradually (dimmer) with the cycle lasting 2 seconds. When the key is turned OFF, the Body Computer checks that the key has actually been extracted (no transponder): in these circumstances it switches on the front and rear courtesy lights according to the methods described previously. The courtesy lights also come on (without a dimmer) if the inertia switch is activated (the information is sent via the instrument panel CAN).This function is activated with the ignition in the ON positionThe Body Computer continuously acquires the battery voltage signal to compare it with a limit figure (SBMT function): if the battery voltage measured is below the level, it intervenes via the CAN sending a signal to disable a series of loads: these include two front and rear courtesy lights; the function is activated with the key in the OFF position.

Operational description - COURTESY LIGHTS - Fiat STILO 1.2 16v da 07/02 a 06/03

The Body Computer M1 receives "door open" input signals at pin 8 (driver''s front door) and pin 16 of connector D (left rear door) and at pin 25 (front passenger door) and pin 26 of connector E (right rear door). Both the front courtesy light G10 and the two rear courtesy lights G25 and G26 receive a power supply from the direct line protected by fuse F39 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2.The front courtesy light G10 is controlled by the Body Computer M1 : the analogue control signal from the three courtesy light buttons reaches pin 28 of connector E of M1 : the Body Computer M1 consequently supplies the courtesy lights G10, providing a timed earth signal from pin 21. On the basis of the battery voltage control logic described previously ("SBMT"), enablement signals for the two map reading lights arrive from pins 30 and 37 of connector E.The rear courtesy lights G25 and G26 on the other hand are operated by the control units for the driver''s door M66 and the passenger door M67 : the control signal from the buttons on the courtesy light reach pin 12 of connector B, whilst a power supply is sent from pin 14 to the lights G25 and G26 .The Body Computer M1 is connected, via the CAN line, to the instrument panel E50 from which it receives the "inertia switch operated" signal that lights up the courtesy lights and to which a signal that lights up the "doors open" warning light, when necessary, is sent.
