The side lights come on when the ring nut on the steering column switch unit left lever is turned to the first position (steering wheel node).The side lights control function is activated through the enablement signals with the key in position M and the command from the steering column switch unit: all the side lights and also the number plate lights and numerous other interior lights for lighting the passenger compartment, instruments and controls are activated together with the side lights (these are described and explained in the wiring diagrams for the relevant components).Activation/deactivation information is sent via the CAN network: in this way, the side lights warning light in the instrument panel is also activated. The instrument panel also activates the nightime lighting.The side lights can also be activated automatically, using the AUTO button on the steering column switch unit: this function is achieved by means of an infrared dusk sensor located in the windscreen.Activation and deactivation is accompanied by an auditory warning signal.769When the device is switched on, the lights come on automatically even if the windscreen wiper is operated.When the device is switched on, even if the windscreen wiper is operated, the follow me home function comes on making it possible to keep the dipped headlamps and the side lights on even after the engine has been switched off (key in position S) for a period of 45 seconds.The side lights warning light in the instrument panel signals that the lights have remained on. The lights are activated by operating the light flasher stalk within 2 minutes of switching the engine off.

Operational Description - SIDE LIGHTS / NO. PLATE LIGHTS - Fiat ULYSSE 2.2 16V JTD fino a 04/03

The command to switch on the side/no. plate lights is supplied by the steering wheel node control unit M093 to the body computer node M001. The signal travels via the CAN which connects the two control units.The steering wheel node control unit M093 receives a supply (pin 5 connector A) through the line protected by fuse F11, located in the body computer node M001; it receives a supply via the CAN (pin 6 connector A) from the line protected by fuse F16, located in the body computer node M001.On receiving the command, the body computer node M001 energizes the relay coil thereby providing a power supply:for the left front light cluster F010 and the left rear light cluster F030, via the line protected by fuse F22;for the right front light cluster F001, the right rear light cluster F031 and the no. plate lights F050 and F051, via the line protected by fuse F12.The warning light is switched on by the milometer warning lights node M140 which communicates with the instrument panel E050 and the body computer node M001 via the CAN.The instrument panel E050 and the milometer warning lights node M140 receive a supply via the CAN (pin 13 of E50 and pin 4 of M140) through the line protected by fuse F24 of the body computer M001.The solar/dusk sensor K90 is connected to the body computer node M001, pins 6, 7 and 8 of connector L, providing information on the exterior light.
