The vehicle is equipped with two dipped beams in the headlamps. The dipped beams are activated by turning a wheel on the stalk switch to the next position after the side light setting.A special relay in the engine compartment junction unit controls activation of the low beams via two lines protected by specific fuses. The low beam activation relay is managed by the body computer: relay excitation is activated by enablement signals with key in position M and a specific stalk switch command.Activation/deactivation information is sent via the CAN network: in this way, the main beam warning light is activated in the instrument panel. The body computer also manages the low beam maintenance function: when the high beams are turned on, the body comuter keeps the low beams on.If the dipped beams and the main beams are already on and the fog lights are turned on, then the dipped beams are switched off.Similarly, if the dipped beams and the fog lights are on and the main beams are switched on, the dipped beams are switched off.In other words, when the main beams and the fog lights are on, the dipped beams are always off.The dipped beams can also be activated automatically, using the AUTO button on the steering column switch unit: this function is achieved by means of an infrared dusk sensor located in the windscreen.Activation and deactivation is accompanied by an auditory warning signal.769 When the device is switched on, the lights come on automatically even if the windscreen wiper is operated. The "Follow me home" function allows the dipped headlamps and the side lights to remain on even after the engine has been switched off (key in position S) for a period of 45 seconds. The side lights warning light in the instrument panel signals that the lights have remained on. The lights are activated by operating the light flasher stalk within 2 minutes of switching the engine off.
The low beam activation command is supplied by steering wheel node control unit M093 via CAN line (pins 1 and 3 of connector A) to body computer node M001 (at pins 5 and 3 of connector G respectively).Steering wheel node control unit M093 is connected to earth C015 (connector A) via pin 4 of connector A, and is supplied by two lines: one, from pin 11 of connector B of body computer node M001 to pin 5 of connector A; the other, from pin 1 of connector G of M001 to pin 4 of connector D, protected by fuse F04.In turn, body computer node M001 informs engine junction unit B001 (pins 12 and 11 respectively of connector F) via the CAN line (pins 25 and 27 of connector E) that a low beam activation request has been made.Engine compartment junction unit B001 suppplies pin 1 of left headlamp F010 and right headlamp F011 via pins 25 and 26 of connector G.Warning light activation is controlled by odometer warning light node M140, which communicates via CAN line E1050 (pins 2 and 5) with instrument panel E050 (pins 6 and 12) and body computer node M001 (pins 8 and 10 connector D).Body computer node M001 supplies odometer warning light node M140 at pin 4 and instrument panel E050 at pin 13 via pin 6 of connector D. This line is protected by fuse F14.Dawn-dusk sensor K125 supplies information on the exterior light conditions to body computer node M001, at pins 3, 24, 26 (respectively) of connector L via pins 1, 2, 4.
