The left and right direction indicators are activated by raising or lowering a special lever on the left of the steering column switch unit. The function is activated with the ignition key turned to ON.The hazard warning lights (all the indicators working simultaneously) are activated by a button in the centre of the dashboard. An LED (at the back of the control button) also comes on synchronized with the flashing of the exterior lights. This function is always activated.The engagement of the direction indicators/hazard warning lights and the frequency of the flashing (sent to all the nodes involved via the CAN) are managed by the body computer.The direction indicator warning lights in the instrument panel are also turned on in this way.
The command for switching on the direction indicators is sent by the steering wheel node M093 via the CAN line (pins 1 and 3 of connector A) to the body computer node M001 (to pins 5 and 3 of connector G respectively).The steering wheel node control unit M093 is connected to earth C015 (connector A) via pin 4 of connector A and receives a supply from two lines: one, from pin 11 of connector B of the body computer node M001 at pin 5 of connector A; the other, from pin 1 of connector G of M001 at pin 4 of connector D, protected by fuse F04.In turn, the body computer node M001 informs the engine compartment junction unit B001 (pins 12 and 11 respectively of connector F) of the request to switch on the direction indicators via the CAN line (pins 25 and 27 of connector E).The engine compartment junction unit B001 supplies pin 8 of the left front lamps F010 and the right front lamps F011 (respectively) via pins 8 and 6 of connector G.The body computer node M001 also operates:- from pin 14 connector H, pin 6 of the left rear light cluster F030 and pin 1 of connector A of the left external rear view mirror P060;- from pin 13 connector H, pin 6 of the right rear light cluster F031 and pin 1 of connector A of the right external rear view mirror.The switching on of the warning lights is managed by the milometer warning lights node M140 which communicates via the CAN (pins 2 and 5) with the instrument panel E050 (pins 6 and 12) and the body computer node M001 (pins 8 and 10 connector D).The body computer node M001 supplies the milometer warning lights node M140, via pin 6 of connector D, at pin 4 and the instrument panel E050 at pin 13. This line is protected by fuse F14.The hazard warning lights are turned on using the special switch H020 which is supplied (pin 6) by the body computer node M001 (pin 2 connector D) and communicates the command (pins 3 and 4) to the instrument panel E050 (pins 7 and 11 respectively). The information is then sent from E050 to M001 (via the CAN line) which simultaneously turns on the direction indicators on the left and right sides.
