There are two lights for lighting up the ground ("puddle lights") in the front front doors.These "puddle lights" come on automatically when the door is opened, irrespective of the position of the ignition key.The courtesy light operation is timed according to a logic managed by the body computer: when one front door is opened the centre light comes on, without the spot lights and also the puddle lights; the operation is timed: a few seconds after the doors are closed, the lights go out gradually.
The opening of the front doors is signalled via the switch incorporated in the locks N050 (driver side) and N051 (passenger side).When the door is opened, the (normally open) switch provides an earth signal at pin 4 (left front door) and pin 5 (right front door) from pin 1 (pin 6 for versions with child locks) for connector L of the body computer node M001.Body computer node M001 supplies courtesy lights G051 and G052 from pin 14 of connector I once the door open signal has been received.
