Description - PARKING SENSOR - Fiat ULYSSE 2.2 16V JTD fino a 04/03
This is a device that allows easy manoeuvring whilst parking: when reverse gear is engaged, it signals to the driver that an obstacle, which may be outside of the range of vision, is being approached. It operates according to an ultrasound sonar principle: four ultrasound transducers are located inside the rear bumper. They send signals to a control unit which processes this information determining the distance of possible obstacles.A speaker controlled by the control unit emits an intermittent sound, proportional to the distance of the obstacle detected. The control unit is activated with reverse gear engaged: in these conditions, it energizes the transducers and sends them a signal request, receiving the response signals. The control unit emits a signal with an intermittent sound through the special speaker: the frequency of this sound increases gradually as the bumper approaches an obstacle: when the distance calculated goes below 25 cm, the sound becomes high-pitched and constant. If the distance of the obstacle detected increases, or if the driver disengages reverse gear, the sound stops. If the distance of the obstacle detected remains constant, the sound stops after about 3 seconds. The signal that reverse gear is engaged < R1 > is managed by the body computer which sends this information to the parking sensor control unit via the CAN.
Operational Description - PARKING SENSOR - Fiat ULYSSE 2.2 16V JTD fino a 04/03
When reverse gear is engaged, the apporpriate command is sent by the switch I020, located on the gearbox. The switch is supplied by the engine compartment junction unit B001 (pin 10 connector C) through the line protected by fuse F01 located in the actual junction unit. When reverse gear is engaged, the switch I020 closes its internal contact, sending the signal to the body computer node M001 (pin 5 connector B).On versions with automatic transmission, there is no reversing switch on the gearbox, but this function is carried out by a special contact "R" for the automatic transmission solenoid valve unit L050Having received the command, the body computer node M001 closes the contact inside the relay and supplies the parking sensor control unit M084 (pin 1 connector A) via the line protected by fuse F24 (pin 3 connector H); control unit M084 is earthed at pin 7 connector A.The control unit M084 operates the speaker P044, used as an acoustic warning for signalling that reverse gear is engaged and that the parking sensors are activated, from pins 2, 10.The parking control unit M084 receives information, from connector B, from the parking sensor unit K097, located in the rear bumper, which measures the distance between the vehicle and any obstacles.A system inhibition signal reaches pin 12 if a trailer is connected via coupling D73.Connector D73 also receives a supply from the body computer node M001 via the line protected by fuse F10.
