The vehicle is prepared for the installation of a "CONNECT NAV" system: it involves a radio built into the CONNECT device and a navigator with maps. The telephone system includes:- GSM module and SIM CARD reader built into the radio;- navigator module with maps incorporated in the radio;- hands free function via the radio speakers;- microphone located in the front courtesy light;- GSM/GPS exterior aerial. The navigation system makes it possible to know the position of the vehicle in the road network, at any time. In this way the driver is guided to the required destination step by step by means of voice messages and visual information. The system also provides additional information for reaching general services, namely: hotels, carparks, restaurants, chemists, service stations, hospitals, authorized workshops, railway stations, airports, etc.The navigation system uses GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite technology consisting of an aerial that allows the GPS satellite location of the vehicle: The aerial is connected to a receiver located in the integrated unit by means of a special shielded cable. The aerial is fitted at the rear of the roof and has two functions (GSM/GPS): it incorporates a GSM aerial when the CONNECT system is also required.Vehicle position is identified by analysing GPS data together with speedometer and reverse gear signals received from the vehicle. The navigation CD-ROM drive is located in the radio assembly.768 the navigation system only works with the CD-ROM inserted in the special drive; it is therefore possible to listen to a music CD during navigation. In this case, the navigation function requires the map CD to be inserted whilst carrying out the route calculation procedures. The main radio controls are duplicated on the steering wheel allowing the driver to operate the radio without taking their hands off the steering wheel. The special controls for the Connect function are on a special control knob located in the centre of the dashboard next to the climate control system controls.A cooling fan ensures the necessary exchange of air in the area of the radio, preventing it from overheating. On this versions the multifunction screen has a 7" 16/9 DT colour monitor. The Connect radio system is, to all intents and purposes, a CAN node and is connected to the body computer, the instrument panel and the multifunction screen where information relating to the radio is displayed.A special CD cartridge allows up to 6 CDs to be loaded which are then selected through the radio controls. The CD changer is located in the dashboard console. On this version there is also an audio-video socket, located inside the glove compartment, which can be used for connecting an outside television camera to the Connect system in order to be able to show images on the actual system monitor. The following is also available, depending on the trim level:- radio with CD player;- "CONNECT Nav" device (with navigator with pictograms);- "CONNECT Nav +" device (with navigator with maps) described in this section. All the details of the specifications and operations of these radio systems are given in the "OWNER''S HANDBOOK".
Radio P020:- it receives power supply (pin 12 connector D) from body computer node M001 (pin 1 connector D).- is interfaced (pins 10 and 13 connector A), via the CAN line, with warning light and odometer control unit node M140 (pins 2 and 5), control panel E050 (pins 6 and 12), body computer node M001 (pins 8 and 10 connector D) and multifunction screen node M172 (pins 2 and 4);- it is connected (pins 3 and 9 connector A) to microphone P027 (pins 1 and 3 respectively);- it supplies (pins 7 and 1 connector A) exterior fan N160 (pins 1 and 3 respectively);- it is connected (pin 1 connector E and pin 1 connector F) to GPS/GSM aerial P110 (pin 1);- it is connected (pins 7, 2, 1, 3, 8, 10, 4 connector B) to CD loader P075 (pins 1, 7, 3, 9, 10, 6, 5 respectively);- it is connected (pins 1, 5 connector B and pin 3 connector D) to aerial and heated rear window control unit P022 (pins 3, 2, 1 respectively);- it is connected (pins 9, 15 connector D and pin 6 connector A) to colour multifunction screen M172 (pins 1, 7, 2 respectively);- it is connected (pins 4, 10, 11 connector A) to audio-video socket D055.Multifunction colour screen M172 is also connected to audio-video socket D055 via pins 11 and 5.The Connect radio P020 is connected, via connector C, to the various speakers located inside the vehicle:- from pins 1, 5 it is connected to the speakers P048 (right rear tweeter) and P121 (right rear speaker);- it is connected, from pins 2, 6, to the speakers P036 (speaker in right front door) and P046 (right front tweeter);- it is connected, from pins 3, 7, to the speakers P035 (speaker in left front door) and P045 (left front tweeter);- from pins 4, 8 it is connected to the speakers P047 (left rear tweeter) and P120 (left rear speaker on side panel);Pins 2 and 8 of connector A are connected to speakers P035 and P045 also used for the hands-free function in the telephone mode. The radio/GSM aerial P111 is connected to connector E of P020.It is possible, via the steering wheel node M093, to control several of the radio functions using the radio controls on the steering wheel; this information is sent by the steering wheel node control unit M093 to the body computer node M001, via the CAN which connects the two control units.
