DescriptionThe left and right direction indicators are operated by raisingor lowering the left lever on the stalk unit. the function is activatedwith the ignition key in the ON position. The hazard warning lights (right and leftdirection indicators operated simultaneously) are turned on by thepressing a button in the centre of the dashboard between the climate controlsystem controls and both the direction indicators come on at thesame time. An LED in the back of the button also comes on flashingin synchronization with the outside lights; the function is alwaysactivated. The switching on of the direction indicators/ hazard warning lights is managed by the Body Computer which alsocontrols the flashing frequency which is sent to the other connectorsvia the CAN serial network. In this way, the two direction indicatorwarning lights in the instrument panel are also lit up; in addition,as well as the flashing of the warning lights, the system also producesa low frequency auditory signal., via a relay in the Body Computer. The correct operation of the lightsis controlled by the direction indicators 'check' function: thefollowing is controlled for each of the two circuits (right branchand left side):open circuit or 21 W bulb missing (right front, rightrear, left front, left rear)short circuit to earth (bulb short circuit or wiring shortcircuit to earth)short circuit to Vbatt (wiring short circuit to Vbatt)If one of the situations described aboveis detected, the Body Computer notifies the CAN of the failure state:a special 'failure' warning light comes on in the instrument paneland, at the same time, the information is shown on the display.
Functional descriptionThe turn signal activation signals are sent to pins 7 of connectorI and 30 of connector G of the Body Computer The 'ignition ON' signal (INT) for the switchH1 reaches the underdashboard control unit B2 at pin 11 ofconnector H and from there moves on to the Body Computer M1 (pin9 of connector F). The hazard warning lights activation signal,on the other hand, reaches pin 34 of connector G of M1 from thecontrol button in the climate control system controls H80 (or M70). The Body Computer M1 controls the supplyfor the side lights at the side F20 (left) and F21 (rght) from pins2 and 13 of connector D, for the front side lights F10 (left) F11(right) from pins 38 and 39 of connector B and for the rear sidelights F30 (left) F31 (right) from pins 12 and 3 of connector D. The Body Computer M1 is connected, viathe CAN line, to the instrument panel E50, to manage the 'directionindicators' warning lights, the buzzer and, if there are failuresin the circuit, the 'failure' warning light. The signal is sent, from pin 29 of connectorG of M1, to light up the LED in the climate control system controlsbutton H80 (or M70).
