R10Multiple tester connection-
DescriptionThe intruder alarm system offers volumetricand perimeter protection. An electronic control unit monitorsthe following:status of doors, boot and bonnet via switches in the locks(perimeter control)the presence of a moving object inside the passenger compartment, via volumetric sensors. (volumetric control)the condition of the system supply cables (both directlyfrom the battery and those controlled by the ignition)the condition of emergency key supply leadsthe operation of ignition switchThe control unit is equipped with a self-testfunction which detects and memorizes faults in the control unititself and the system components and also checks the condition ofthe connecting cables. The control unit also memorizes the numberof times the alarm is activated and set off.The control unit operating software maybe altered to meet regulations governing the use of alarm systemsapplicable in different markets. The electronic control unit, which alsoincorporates the siren, is located at the front, under the wheelarch to the left of the engine compartment. The receiver is an electronic device whichreceives the transmitter signal. It is located in the rear rightwing. It is connected to the control unitvia the serial line and directly manages the following functions:it receives, decodes and manages the remote control signalsit locks and unlocks the doorsit stores the codes of enabled transmitters. The receiver also has its own autodiagnosticfunction which detects and memorizes faults in the actual receiverand the components connected to it and it checks the condition ofthe connecting cables. The emergency key for deactivating the system(not available in some markets) is located on the left of the dashboard, next to the junction unit. It cuts out the system, for example inthe case of repair interventions. The door lock system switches are used tocheck doors, boot and bonnet. A special switch is also located onthe bonnet catch. The volumetric sensors check for car intruders. They are located in the two centre pillars. Both are twin sensors,i.e. consisting of an emitter and a receiver: the wave transmittedby an emitter should reach the receiver of the other sensor andviceversa: if this is not the case, an alarm signal is sent to thecontrol unit. The dissuasion LED is located in the dashboard,in the centre above the air vent and signals the state of the system(on, off, etc.) plus any faults. For more details 3232973Characteristic of working principle5580Eanti-theft device . The alarm system control unit has directsupply lines and lines controlled by the ignition protected by twofuses in the junction unit., such as the remote control unit receiver.
Functional description The alarm system is controlled by alarmcontrol unit M30 integral with the siren. The control unit is supplied directly bythe battery at pin 3 of connector A from the line protected by fuse F10 andat pin 7 of connector B (supply for the direction indicators) fromthe line protected by fuse F9 ; both fuses are located in junctionunit B1 . The supply controlled by the ignition (INT)reaches pin 12 of connector B of control unit M30 througha line protected by fuse F1 of control unit B1 . Pin 9 of connector A is earthed. Control unit M30 controls door closurevia switches N50 , N55 , N51 , N56 , whichsend an earth signal to pins 8, 15, 9 and 16 of connector B respectively whenthe door is open (the same switches light up the timed lights: seealso 3233915SeeE2510COURTESY LIGHTS ). The bonnet lid is controlled by switch I10 ,which is connected to pin 18 of connector B, while the boot lidis controlled by switch I11 , which is connected to pin 17of connector B (the same switch turns on the boot light: see 3233915SeeE2510COURTESY LIGHTS ). Pin 13 of connector B supplies the emergencyswitch H70 which sends the ON and OFF signals to pins 7 and4, respectively of connector A. Pin 1 of connector A of M30 sendsalarm led control signal E40 . The left volumetric sensor ( K60 )and the right volumetric sensor ( K61 ), receive a supply andearth from pins 8 and 11, respectively, of connector A of M30 andsend the alarm control signal to pin 12 of connector A of M30 . Pins 1 and 2 of connector B of M30 producecontrol signals for the direction indicators 3233806SeeE2020DIRECTION INDICATORS / HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS . The receiver for the remote control M35 issupplied directly by the battery at pin 3 from the line protectedby fuse F10 and at pin 7 from the line protected by fuse F1 ;both fuses are located in junction unit B1 . Pin 4 is earthed. M35 (pins 5 and 6) gives out signalsdirected to pins 15 (door locking signal) and 6 (door unlockingsignal) for the integrated services control unit M403234040SeeE3040CENTRAL LOCKING . The control unit M30 and the receiver M35 are both equipped with an autodiagnostic system whichcan be used by connecting to connector R10 : it receives signalsfrom pin 6 of connector A of M30 and from pin 2 of the remote controlreceiver M35 . This serial line also acts as a connectionbetween M30 and M35 .

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour:a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery;a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For more details 3238420See subassembly5530 CURRENT GENERATOR . 768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360').Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows: If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery ( 32384295530B10battery - r+r ). If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery ( 32384305530B14battery - recharge ). If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
