The side lights come on when the ring nut on the steering column switch unit left lever is turned to the first position (steering wheel node). The side lights control function is activated through the enablement signals with the key in position M and the command from the steering column switch unit: all the side lights and also the number plate lights and numerous other interior lights for lighting the passenger compartment, instruments and controls are activated together with the side lights (these are described and explained in the wiring diagrams for the relevant components).Activation/deactivation information is sent via the CAN: in this way, the side lights warning light in the instrument panel is also activated. The instrument panel also activates the nightime lighting for the symbols. The side lights can also be activated automatically, using the AUTO button on the steering column switch unit: this function is achieved by means of an infrared dusk sensor located in the windscreen.Activation and deactivation is accompanied by an auditory warning signal.769 When the device is switched on, the lights come on automatically even if the windscreen wiper is operated. The "Follow me home" function allows the dipped headlamps and the side lights to remain on even after the engine has been switched off (key in position S) for a period of 45 seconds. The side lights warning light in the instrument panel signals that the lights have remained on. The lights are activated by operating the light flasher stalk within 2 minutes of switching the engine off.
The command to switch on the side/number plate lights is supplied by the steering wheel node control unit M093 via the CAN line (pins 1 and 3 of connector A) to the body computer node M001 (at pins 5 and 3 of connector G respectively). The steering wheel node control unit M093 is connected to earth C015 (connector A) via pin 4 of connector A and receives a power supply, at pin 5 of the same connector, from pin 11 of connector B of Body computer node M001.Having received the command, the Body computer node M001 provides a power supply:- to pin 1 of the right rear light cluster F031, from pin 12 (connector I);- to pin 1 of the left rear light cluster F030, from pin 13 (connector I);- to pin 1 of the number plate lights F050 and F051, from pin 18 (connector I).In addition, the Body computer node M001, acts at pins 12 and 11 (respectively) of connector F of the engine compartment junction unit B001 via the CAN line (pins 25 and 27 of connector E). The latter (via pins 11 and 12 of connector G) acts on pins 3 of the front right headlamp F011 and the front left headlamp F010 (respectively). The switching on of this special warning light is managed by the milometer warning light node M140 which communicates, via the CAN (pins 2 and 5) with the instrument panel E050 (pins 6 and 12) and the body computer node M001 (pins 8 and 10 connector D).The body computer node M001 supplies the milometer warning lights node M140, at pin 4 and the instrument panel E050 at pin 13, via pin 6 of connector D.The solar/dusk sensor K125, provides information, via pins 1, 2, 4, concerning the outside light, to the Body computer node M001, at pins 3, 24, 26 (respectively) of connector L.
