DESCRIPTION - CONNECT - Fiat BRAVO 1.4 16v
A road map navigation system reveals the vehicle''s position on a map (showing town streets and main roads/motorways) at every moment and pinpoints it on the CONNECT display. In this way the driver is guided step-by-step to the required destination, by means of voice messages and visual information. The system also provides additional information for reaching general services, namely: hotels, carparks, restaurants, chemists, service stations, hospitals, FIAT service outlets, railway stations, airports etc.The navigation system uses GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite localisation technology and is fitted, when ordered, in the integrated radio-phone-navigation system known as "CONNECT NAV +". The navigation CD-ROM drive is located in the unit. The GPS consists of an aerial that allows the vehicle to be GPS satellite-located: the aerial is connected to a receiver located in the integrated unit by means of a special shielded cable. The stylus aerial is fitted at the rear of the roof: it performs three functions (radio/GSM/GPS) because it also incorporates a GSM aerial and a radio aerial. Vehicle position is identified by analysing GPS data together with speedometer and reverse gear signals received from the vehicle. The integated radio-telephone-navigation system is a node in the CAN network, via which it exchanges information with the Body Computer and the other electronic control units. The controls are shown on the integrated radio-telephone-navigation system display. The buttons on the steering wheel are used as well as the radio controls to send out commands for the telephone function. For more details on phone operation
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION - CONNECT - Fiat BRAVO 1.4 16v
Radio P20 is supplied directly (pin 7 of connector A) from the battery via the line of fuse F39 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2 .The radio P20 receives an ignition-operated (INT) power supply (pin 4 of connector A) via the line for fuse F51 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2 .Pin 8 of connector A is earthed.Pins 1 and 3 of connector A receive the CAN line by which the radio P20 is connected to the Body Computer M1 and the other system nodes. The Body Computer M1 is connected to the radio controls on the steering wheel via clock spring D47: pin 27 of connector H of M1 receives the signals for the buttons on the right of the steering wheel, whilst pin 15 of connector H of M1 receives the signals from the buttons on the left of the steering wheel. The Body Computer M1 receives a direct supply from the battery via the line protected by maxifuse B99 at pin 18 of connector F of the interface with the junction unit under the dashboard B2; the ignition-controlled supply (INT) reaches pin 9 of connector F of the interface with the junction unit B2.
