The front courtesy light includes two lamps with three control pushbuttons: the pushbuttons can be used to turn on the corresponding light directly or in a timed manner, as described below.There is only one bulb in the middle rear courtesy light which can be switched on or off using the relevant switch or through a delay timer as described below.The courtesy light operation is timed according to a logic managed by the body computer:- when any of the doors is opened, the courtesy lights come on for 3 minutes; the timer is reactivated whenever the door is opened;- when all the doors are closed; the lights stay on for a further 10 seconds with the key off. This time is interrupted if the key is moved to key on position: in this case, the courtesy lights are turned off immediately.- When all the doors are closed at key-on the courtesy lights are immediately switched off.- when the key is extracted (or within 2 minutes of the engine being switched off) the courtesy lights come on and there is timed delay of 10 seconds.- all the courtesy lights are turned off at the door lock control;- at the door release command, all the courtesy lights are turned on and a 10 second timer is activated.- If the inertia switch is operated the courtesy lights come on for 15 minutes and then go out.The switching on or off takes place gradually (dimmer) with the cycle lasting 2 seconds.If one or more doors are open, this is shown on the instrument panel display; the warning light remains on until all the vehicle doors and boot lid are properly shut. If a given speed limit is exceeded, this is also signalled by means of a buzzer.

The Body Computer M1 receives "door open" input signals at pin 11 (driver''s front door) and pin 22 (left rear door) of connector D and at pin 34 (front passenger door) and pin 35 (right rear door) of connector E of M1.Front courtesy light G10 is supplied from Body Computer M1 in accordance with the strategy described previously from pin 30 of connector E, while the timed command analogue signal is received from pin 49.The middle rear courtesy light G20 is connected by a dedicated bridge on versions with a sun roof which is connected to the connections for the side courtesy lights G25 and G26; it receives a power supply, from pin 51 of connector E of M1, from the line protected by fuse F39 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2 via pin 17 of connector F of the interface with M1.Courtesy light G20 is supplied from Body Computer M1 in accordance with the strategy described previously from pin 40 of connector E, while the timed command analogue signal is received from pin 14 of connector D.The Body Computer M1 receives a direct supply from the battery via the line protected by maxifuse B99 at pin 18 of connector F of the interface with the junction unit under the dashboard B2; the ignition-controlled supply (INT) reaches pin 9 of connector F of the interface with the junction unit B2.Body Computer M1 is connected via the CAN line to instrument panel E50, to which it sends a signal that turns on the door open warning light, where necessary, and activates the buzzer to give an acoustic signal.
