Description - TYRE INFLATION PRESSURE CONTROL SYSTEM - Fiat BRAVO 1.4 16v TJet
The TPMS Tyre Pressure Monitoring System checks the pressure and temperature of the tyres at all times. In particular, it activates a visual and acoustic signal in the instrument panel if the pressure of one or more of the tyres goes below a preset limit. In this way the T.P.M.S. warns the driver and signals the possibility of the tyre being dangerously deflated and a probable puncture. The system comprises a control unit inside the passenger compartment (in the luggage compartment, right hand side) and four transmission sensors located in the tyre on the wheel rim which send signals to four receiver aerials. The aerials acquire information on the status of the four tyres via radio signals. They therefore communicate with the tyre pressure control unit and, via the A-BUS serial line, with the Body Computer and then via the CAN with the other nodes, in particular the instrument panel. At key-on, the control unit conducts an initial check: when the vehicle moves, the sensors measure the pressure and then make a transmission to indicate the initial status. The receiver receives this transmission from all the sensors within 5 seconds so that it can check tyre function. The warning light (or symbol in the display) comes on when a fault is detected by the T.P.M.S.For more details:The control unit supply lines are protected by fuses in the boot compartment control unit and Body Computer.
Functional description - TYRE INFLATION PRESSURE CONTROL SYSTEM - Fiat BRAVO 1.4 16v TJet
Control unit M47 is supplied at pin 1 directly from the battery by a line protected by fuse F39 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2.The ignition-controlled power supply (INT) arrives at pin 16 from the line protected by fuse F51 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2.The control unit is earthed at pin 10.The A-BUS serial line connecting with the Body Computer M1 - pin 10 of connector D leaves pin 18 of M47.The Body Computer M1 receives a direct supply from the battery via the line protected by maxifuse B99 at pin 18 of connector F of the interface with the junction unit under the dashboard B2; the ignition-controlled supply (INT) reaches pin 9 of connector F of the interface with the junction unit B2.The four receivers of sensors P12 receive a 5V supply from pin 2 of M47 and a reference earth from pins 12, 13 and 15 ; they send a pressure signal to pins 3, 4, 5 and 6 of M47.The autodiagnostic data can be read by connecting to connector C of the Body Computer M1 - pin 13: it receives signals from pin 17 of control unit M47 via the special diagnostic line.On right hand drive versions there is also diagnostic connector R10 separate from the Body Computer.
