The vehicle is equipped with a very bright rear fog lamp located in the rear of the left light cluster (right light cluster for right hand drive versions) and can be used in all poor visibility conditions. The rear fog lamps is activated using the special button in the switch unit in the middle of the dashboard under the centre air vents. The enablement for switching on the rear fog lamp depends on the dipped headlamps or the fog lights being in use.A warning light in the instrument panel signals that the rear fog lamps are on.The rear fog lamps check function is available on the version with a Comfort instrument panel.Any fault can be recognized by the vehicle branch (left or right side), in which case the Body Computer transmits the failure status via the CAN to the instrument panel which lights up the special "exterior lights failure" warning light and simultaneously shows the information in the display.
The rear fog lamps activation signal consists of an earth signal coming from switch unit H90 entering pin 35 of connector F of the body computer M01. The switch unit H90 receives a power supply for lighting the trim from the ignition-controlled line (INT) protected by fuse F49 of the junction unit under the dashboard B02.When the button H90 is pressed, the body computer M01 turns on the rear light cluster (F30 for left hand drive versions and F31 for right hand drive versions) via pin 31 connector A if there is a power supply from the ignition-controlled line H01 (INT) and the dipped headlamps on signal which arrives from the steering column switch unit H05 (pin 4 of connector D of the body computer). At the same time, the body computer M01 also controls the switching on of the rear fog lamps warning light located in the instrument panel E50.The instrument panel E50 receives apower supply, via the body computer M01, through an ignition-controlled line (pin 1 connector A) protected by fuse F37 of the junction unit under the dashboard B02 and from a line coming directly from the battery (pin 3 connector A) protected by fuse F53 of the junction unit under the dashboard and from fuse F1 of the engine compartment junction unit B01. Both lines come from the body computer M01; similarly the earth line (pin 2 connector A) and the serial lines at pins 8 and 9 of connector A.On versions with the Comfort instrument panel, if there is a failure in the circuit or the bulbs, the Body Computer notifies the instrument panel (pins 9 and 8 of connector A), via the CAN line (pins 5 and 6 of connector I) and the "exterior lights failure" warning light is switched on as well as all the available messages on the display. On the Natural Power version (1.6 16v Bipower) the instrument panel E50 communicates with the body computer M01 via pins 4 and 3 connector A and receives supply lines at pins 1 and 2 connector A; it then receives an earth signal at pin 7 connector A.
