An optional navigation system with road maps can be built into the vehicle facia. The navigation system provides information on the vehicle''s positon at any time by displaying it on the map and helps the driver reach the required destination. The system also allows information to be easily obtained on services of general interest (hotels, carparks, restaurants, chemists, service stations, hospitals, service outlets, railway stations, airports etc.).An electronic control unit built into the radio system manages the operation of the entire system.A gyroscope located inside the central unit container detects vehicle rotation and allows the maps to be oriented. The central unit container also includes the GPS receiver that processes the GPS (Global Positioning System) functions required by the navigation system:- initial location of the vehicle;- initial sensor self-calibration (odometer and gyroscope);- navigation aid (checking the correct location of the vehicle in relation to the position recorded by the sensors);- synchronisation of the clock inside the central unit;- vehicle localisation in areas not covered by maps and in the event that the vehicle is transported/ferry, train, etc.).An aerial allows GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite localisation of the vehicle:the aerial is connected to a receiver located in the central unit by means of a special shielded cable.A monochrome monitor on the front of the navigation system allows the selected route to be displayed. The radio system speakers back up the display with audio messages in various languages. The supply line for the system control unit is protected by a fuse located in the junction unit under the dashboard.
The navigation system electronic circuit built into radio P20 is supplied directly at pin 7 of connector A by a line protected by fuse F39 in under-dashboard junction unit B02 and from fuse F1 of engine compartment junction unit B01.The supply controlled by the ignition (INT) reaches pin 4 via the line protected by fuse F49 of the junction unit under the dashboard B002.Navigation system P20 communicates with the body computer via pins 1 and 3 of connector A. It also receives a power supply from the body computer for the interior lighting via a line protected by fuse F51 within pin 15 of connector D.Pin 12 of connector D of the navigation system is earthed. The speedometer signal generated by sensor K84 is sent to body computer M01 at pin 17 of connector C and then sent to the radio (pin 11 connector d) from pin 23 of connector E.The reversing signal reaches pin 3 of connector DAerial signal P25 enters the navigation system at pin 5 of connector A.Pins 9 and 18 of connector D are connected to the handsfree microphone built into courtesy light G10 for the mobile phone function. The body computer may be suppied via pin 11 connector E (ignition-operated supply) and pin A connector C (direct supply) of junction unit B02. Fuse F1 in engine compartment junction unit B01 protects the direct power supply.Pins 8 and 9 of connector D of the body computer are earthed.
