The vehicle climate is controlled via a duct/distributor unit with heater and controlled by means of three control knobs in the dashboard:- the middle knob controls the mixture flap mechanically between hot air and cold air;- the left knob mechanically controls the opening of the flaps that regulate the distribution of the air flows by means of a flexible cable;- the right knob adjusts the ventilationof the air, via an electrical control, at four different speeds; two versions are available: one three speed and one four speed. The control for the different fan speeds is achieved by means of a resistive distributor protected against overheating by a special thermal fuse. There is also a cursor on the control unit located under the knobs that adjusts the recirculation function mechanically by means of a flexible cable. The control unit is lit with the side lights on.The fan circuit is protected by a specific fuse and controlled by the passenter compartment air fan relay in the engine compartment junction unit. The fan can only be switched on with the ignition ON.
The relay R8, housed in the engine compartment junction unit B01, controls the heater fan circuit. The power supply at the relay arrives from the battery at pin 1 of connector A of B01, protected by fuse F8, whilst the coil is energized by an ignition-controlled power supply (INT/A) from the line protected by fuse F31 of the junction unit under the dashboard B02.The relay R8 supplies the fan N85 directly, which operates at the different speeds thanks to the regulator O30. When the fan H81 control is operated, the different resistances (voltage distributor) can be managed and they vary the "load" for the circuit and operate the motor N85 at the four different speeds. The control unit symbols are lit up with the side lights on by the lights G45 with a power supply via the line protected by fuse F51 of the junction unit under the dashboard B02.
