The vehicle is equipped with two specific dipped beam headlamps. The dipped beams are activated by turning a wheel on the stalk switch to the next position after the side light setting (second position). The dipped beams stay on even with the main beams on and are turned off by turning on the fog lamps. The vehicle offers a follow me home function. This strategy allows the dipped beams to be kept on even with the ignition off for a preset time (within two minutes of turning off the engine). This function is particularly useful, for example, after parking the vehicle in a garage or poorly-lit places/areas.The function is activated by means of the left steering wheel stalk (light flasher): each time the stalk is operated, activation of the dipped beams is extended by 30 seconds for up to 5 minutes, after which they turn off automatically. The circuit is protected by two special fuses: one for the right headlamp and one for the left. The dipped beam circuit also enables the operation of certain other functions, e.g. rear fog lamp activation and headlamp alignment control.
The dipped beams are activated by an earth signal from stalk unit H05 when the wheel is operated and reach body computer M01 at pin 4 connector D.With the key of, pin 33 connector F of the body computer receives a signal from the stalk unit that activates the follow me home function. To turn on the dipped beams, body computer M01 activates a relay F1 contained in under-dashboard junction unit B02 that receives a direct power supply protected by fuse F1 contained in under-dashboard junction unit B01 and sends it to the two right and left headlamps. Each line is protected by a fuse in the under-dashboard junction unit B02. F13 for the left headlamp and F12 for the right. An ignition-controlled signal (INT) from ignition switch H01 reaches pin 11 connector E of under-dashboard junction unit B02.The direct signal to the left headlamp is also sent to instrument panel E50 at pin 7 of connector A for functions that require this enablement signal.Instrument panel E50 also communicates with body computer M01 via pins 8 and 9 connector A and receives supply lines at pins 1 and 3 connector A. It also receives an earth signal at pin 2 connector A.In the Natural Power (1.6 16v Bipower) version, the direct signal to the left headlamp is also sent to instrument panel E50 at pin 6 of connector A for functions that require this enablement signal.Instrument panel E50 also communicates with body computer M01 via pins 4 and 3 connector A and receives supply lines at pins 1 and 2 connector A. It also receives an earth signal at pin 7 connector A.The left headlamp signal and right headlamp signals are both used to operate the headlamp alignment corrector. For further details,
