The electronic wheel anti-lock and anti-slip system regulations braking pressure transmitted to the wheels to prevent loss of grip under all tyre and road surface conditions and controls vehicle traction (ASR = ANTISLIP REGULATION) by cutting in automatically whenever one or both of the drive wheels begins to slip.The ASR system increases the active safety and stability of the vehicle controlling the slipping of the drive wheels: if the slipping is caused by the transmission of excessive power, the system cuts in, with the co-operation of the engine management control unit, to reduce engine power output. If, on the other hand, the slipping is detected at one wheel only, the system cuts in to brake the slipping wheel only by means of the wheel''s modulating solenoid valve.The ASR comes on automatically whenever the engine is started: the system can be deactivated by means of a button in the control panel. When the system is off, an LED in the button and a warning light in the control panel come on simultaneously.The warning light flashes when the system cuts in to notifiy the driver that the ASR has come on due to road grip conditions.When the control unit detects an error in the ASR function, it turns on the warning light in fixed mode.
Operational Description - ASR / TCS - Fiat DUCATO 2.8 JTD 8V fino a 02/05
ABS control unit M050 receives a power supply directly from the battery - pins 17 and 18 - and an ignition-operated supply - pin 15 -. The direct battery power supply is protected by fuse F04 located in engine bay junction unit B001. The ignition-operated supply is protected by fuse F42, located in the under-facia junction unit B002.When the brake pedal is pressed, switch I030 supplies control unit M070 - pin 14 - with an ignition-operated supply protected by fuse F26, located in control unit B002.ABS control unit M050 activates wheel sensors K070, K071, K075 and K076 via pins 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9.If the system malfunctions, the control unit turns on the warning lights located on instrument panel E050.Control unit M070 receives an activation/deactivation commandfrom control panel H090 - pin 4 connector C - from pin 31.Sensor K025 monitors brake fluid level. When this level is too low, the sensor closes the earth circuit by turning on the warning light on instrument panel E050 - pin 2 connector B -.Sensor K020 monitors brake pad wear and controls activation of a warning light on instrument panel E050 - pn 3 connector B - if the pads malfunction or are replaced.The ABS control unit communicates from pins 29 and 30 via the CAN with gear control unit H037 and engine control unit M010.The WINTER key on gear selector H037 is used to turn the ASR system on and off.
