DescriptionThe vehicle is equipped with two GAS DISCHARGEheadlamps. For more details 3232965Characteristic of working principle5540EXTERIOR LIGHTING . The left headlamp is the Master controlunit while the right acts as a Slave unit. The master downloads the dipped beam command, car speed and - to manage the function - signals from two sensors(potentiometric) on the wheel axles that manage front and rear ride. The control unit controls the adjustmentmotor - located in the headlamps - and tilts it by the requiredamount on the basis of input.768

767on the version with gas dischargeheadlamps, the light beam is adjujsted automatically and the twobuttons on the left side of the panel are no longer active.
The device is enabled only when the dippedbeam headlamps are on.The electronics for the two headlamps aresupplied by a fuse that also protects other power supplies controlledby the ignition.
Functional description The two electronics inside the headlamps F10A (left)and F11A (right) are supplied - pin 6 - by the line controlledby the ignition (INT) protected by fuse F4 of the additionalfuse box B98B ; pin 14 of F10A and F11A areearthed. Pin 8 of F10A and F11A areconnected to one another (serial communication line between MASTERand SLAVE), whilst pin 13 of the control unit located in headlamp F10A receivesthe speedometer signal from instrument E10 . Headlamp F10A incorporates the headlampalignment function: the two sensors (potentiometers) that recordride at the front K1 and the rear K2 are connected:a supply and reference earth are sent from pins 9 and 10 of F10A : thesignals proportional to the load return to pins 11 and 12; accordingto these signals the headlamp electronics automatically adjust thelight beam by means of a special motor. The left headlamp motoris adjusted directly, whilst the right one is adjusted via the serialline between F10A and F11A . The dipped headlamps control signal reaches F10A and F11A at pin 1 3233782SeeE2011DIPPED HEADLAMPS . The diagnostic line for connector R10,pin 12, leaves pin 7 of F10A and F11A.

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour:a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery;a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For more details 3238420See subassembly5530 CURRENT GENERATOR . 768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360').Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows: If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery ( 32384295530B10battery - r+r ). If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery ( 32384305530B14battery - recharge ). If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
