DESCRIPTION - CONTROL LIGHTS - Alfa Romeo 159 1.8 Da 01/06
The car is equipped with numerous light sources for optimal lighting of interior instruments and controls. Some of these are lit with the ignition ON (INT), others with the side lights on, others are dimmable in accordance with a rheostat-controlled adjustment strategy managed by the Body Computer. The Body Computer manages the lighting - with the side lights on - of:- cigar lighter and rear current socket;- controls on the front courtesy lightThe Body Computer manages (directly and via the door and boot node control units) the dimmed lighting of:- instrument panel and display;- auxiliary instrument- switches in the doors;- climate control system controls;- built-in radio-telephone-navigator unit; All the other controls are lit up when the ignition is on (INT), i.e. with the TEG inserted.A brightness sensor for the automatic adjustment (day/night) of the brightness of the instrument panel is built-in; it has the task of measuring the ambient light conditions and sending this information (daytime or nightime) to the Body Computer which, on comparing this information with the state of the side lights, selects the appropriate lighting configuration for the vehicle interior (daytime or nightime mode). With this information available, the behaviour of the instrument is as follows:- In "daytime" mode the display can be adjusted to 8 settings, the graphics are switched off, the index lighting is 100% and cannot be adjusted.- In "nightime" mode the display, the graphics and the indexes can be adjusted to 8 settings and the level set will be transmitted to the components that regulate the brightness (climate control display, radio display). This adjustment is made using the "MODE", "MODE +" and "MODE -" buttons located on the steering column switch unit; there are 8 different possible settings. (fom 30% to 100% of the maximum intensity). The level set by pressing the buttons is shown on the instrument panel display; the setting is also memorized and used later on.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION - CONTROL LIGHTS - Alfa Romeo 159 1.8 Da 01/06
The "MODE" "+" and "-" controls, located on the left steering column switch unit lever +15, send an analogue signal to the instrument panel E50 at pin 5 of connector A.The dimmed power supply for the auxiliary instruments E20 leaves pin 5 of connector C of E50 (pin 2 of connector C provides the reference earth). The Body Computer M1 is connected via the CAN line to the instrument panel E50 from which it receives the "brightness adjustment" signal which is transmitted to the radio node and to the climate control system control unitThe power supply with the side lights on is sent from the Body Computer M1 - pin 40 of connector E to the cigar lighter light P50 and the rear current socket P51 as well as to the controls on the front courtesy light G10.The lighting of the front door controls H44 and H50 is managed by the driver side door control unit M66 and passenger side door control unit M67 , supplied at pin 11 of connector D by a line protected by fuse F32 of the underfacia control unit B2 , and connected via the CAN line to the Body Computer M1 .Similarly, the lighting of the rear door controls H53 and H54 is managed by the boot control unit M63 , supplied - at pin B8 of connector A - by a line protected by fuse F36 of the underfacia control unit B2 , and connected via the CAN line to the Body Computer M1 .The ignition-controlled power supply line (INT), protected by fuse F35 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2, provides the lighting for the switch unit on the tunnel H35.The ignition-operated power supply line (INT), protected by fuse F49 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2, provides the lighting for the hazard warning lights control H20, the control panel to the left of the dashboard H90, the radio controls on the steering wheel D47, the controls on the rear courtesy light G20 and those on the seats I65 and I66.
