DescriptionThe vehicle has two additional fog lights in the light clusters. The fog lights are activated through a button in the centre panel; an LED in the back of the button also lights up when these lights are on.A special relay, in the engine compartment control unit, controls the switching on of the fog lights via a line protected by a special fuse. The relay is managed by the Body Computer: the relay is energized in the following conditions:go ahead signal with key in ON position (INT);signal from the switch in the panel;side lights on signal. no main beam headlamps signalIf the main beam headlamps [EL2012] are switched on, then the fog lights are temporarily switched off.In addition, if the side lights are switched off, the fog lights are also switched off even if the button is pressed. When the side lights are switched on again, the fog lights come on again. If the ignition key is switched OFF and then turned back to the ON position, the operating button must be pressed once again in order to turn the fog lights back on.
Functional description The fog lights activated signal reaches pin 1 of connector D of M1 from the control button in the centre panel H12 . The side lights activated signal is sent to pin 28 of connector B of the Body Computer M1 from the steering column switch unit H53023183SeeE2010SIDE LIGHTS / NO. PLATE LIGHTS ]. The 'ignition ON' signal (INT) for the switch H1 reaches the underdashboard control unit B2 at pin 11 of connector H and from there moves on to the Body Computer M1 (pin 9 of connector F). The Body Computer M1 controls the supply for the fog lights by sending an earth signal to the engine compartment control unit B1 from pin 8 of connector A of M1 which energizes the relay T14: this supplies the fog lights F10 (left) and F11 (right). The circuit is protected by fuse F30 of control unit B2 . A signal is sent, from pin 22 of connector C of M1 , to light up the LED in the control button H12 (it is an earth signal which lights up the warning light controlled by the ignition (INT) from the line of fuse F49 of the control unit B2 ).

5530B18

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour: a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery; a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For further details, see DESCRIPTION ANDOPERATION - 5580.768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360'). Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows:If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery (see op.). 5530B10).If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery (see op. 5530B14).If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768

Prepare the vehiclecomplete with spare wheel, tools, fluids, fuel reserve and driveron board. Check that the tyre inflation pressureis correct.Place the headlamp alignment switch inposition '0'.Position the vehicle on a flat surface, perpendicular to a screen or an opaque surface, 10 metres away, which contains the following lines. 1. V - V: vertical line corresponding to the trace of the planeof symmetry of the vehicle.2. C - C: traces of the vertical planes passing through the referencecentres of the light clusters.3. HC - HC: horizontal line corresponding to the height from theground of the reference centres for the light clusters. 4. AC - AC: horizontal line 10 cm below the HC - HC line.5.
