DescriptionThe module includes the electronic rev counterand a series of warning lights. The engine management unit (specific toeach version) produces an rpm signal. The gauge display is producedby an electronic circuit inside the module. The following warning lights arecontained in this module:left turn signalsright turn signalsrechargingminimum oil pressureinjection system failurelight failure (check)main beam headlampsside lights/dipped beamsrear fog lampsfog lightstrailer lights (preparation)The rev counter module also contains thecheck device for the exterior lights which controls the circuitsfor the side and number plate lights, the rear fog lamps and thebrake lights. The operation of the warning lights whichare not included in other functions are illustrated; the othersare described and illustrated in the diagrams relating to the componentsto which they refer. The rev counter operates when the ignitionis switched ON. In the "night" position (sidelights on), the brightness can be adjusted to three levels by anexternal button. ( 3233955SeeE2530INSTRUMENT LIGHTING ).
Functional description The supply for the rev counter module E15 reachespins 10 and 16 of connector A directly from the battery. (maxifuse J/B2 of B5 up to 2/99 or of B99 from 2/99), through fuses F2 and F3 of junction unit B1 ; this supply is used by the checkdevice for the exterior lights ( 3233770SeeE2010SIDE LIGHTS / NO. PLATE LIGHTS , 3233830SeeE2021BRAKE LIGHTS , 3233898SeeE2031REAR FOG LAMPS ). The rev counter module E15 also receivesa supply controlled by the ignition (INT) at pin 15 of connectorB from the line protected by fuse B11 up to 2/99 or fuse F4 ofthe additional fuse box B98B from 2/99. Pin 14 of connectorB is earthed. The engine rpm signal, which is differentfor each engine type, comes from the engine management control unit M10 topin 6 of connector B. Insufficient engine oil pressure is signalledat pin 5 of connector B of module E15 by the earth signalcoming from sensor K30 . For all the other warning lights, referto the diagrams relating to the components to which they refer.

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour:a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery;a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For more details 3238420See subassembly5530 CURRENT GENERATOR . 768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360').Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows: If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery ( 32384295530B10battery - r+r ). If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery ( 32384305530B14battery - recharge ). If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
