When the key is turned to position M, the aerial P091 (pins 4, 6 connector B) supplies an encrypted bod contained in the ignition key to steering wheel control unit M093 (pins 4, 6 connector E).Pins 1, 3 connector A of steering wheel node control unit M093 communicates the key code to body computer node M001 (pins 38, 40 connector L) via the CAN.The steering wheel node control unit M093 receives a supply (pin 5 connector A) through the line protected by fuse F11, located in the body computer node M001; it receives a supply via the CAN (pin 6 connector A) from the line protected by fuse F16, located in the body computer node M001.This information is sent on via the CAN to engine control unit M010 (pins A3, A4 connector A), which checks that the code received is correct.If the code is correct, the engine management control unit M010 allows the engine to be started

The vehicle is equipped with an electronic alarm with perimeter (exterior) and volumetric (interior) protection.The alarm is switched on/off using the remote control incorporated in the key.It has 4 buttons:one for activating the central locking < R1 > and for switching the alarm onone for activating the release of the central locking < R1 > and switching off the alarm.On versions with electrically operated sliding doors, the remote control has other buttons:one for opening/closing the right sliding side doorone for opening/closing the left sliding side doorA dedicated control unit monitors the following:the state of the doors and lids, via switches in the catches (perimeter control)the presence of a moving object inside the passenger compartment, by means of volumetric sensors. (volumetric control);the condition of the system supply leads;operation of the ignition switch.The control unit is equipped with a self-diagnostic function which detects and memorises faults and problems in the control unit and system components; in addition, it checks the condition of the connecting cables and saves the number of activations and times the alarm has been operated.The control unit operating logic can be modified in order to satisfy the legal requirements which govern the use of alarm systems in the various markets.All the outside components are connected by means of a dedicated serial line.The alarm siren is located at the front, on the left of the engine compartment.The deterrent LED is located on the right side of the dashboard: with the alarm on the LED flashes at 0.8 Hz to indicate that the vehicle is locked.The door lock system switches are used to monitor the doors and boot.A special separate switch detects bonnet closure.The volumetric sensors check that there are no intrustions in the vehicle. They are located in the front courtesy light: they consist of a transmitter and a receiver: the wave transmitted by one transmitter must reach the receiver of the other sensor and viceversa: otherwise an alarm signal is sent to the control unit.767the volumetric function can be switched off, using the special button (which can be reached with the driver''s door open); an LED located in the dashboard lights up constantly.In this case, when the anti-theft device is switched on, there is perimeter (external) protection only.
