A loss in tyre pressure can cause:- a blow out;- a considerable deterioration in the vehicle''s road holding and braking stability;- irregular, rapid wear of the tyres.- increased fuel consumption. The tyre pressure monitoring system is designed to avoid these problems. The information is displayed both via the milometer warning lights node, by the STOP warning light coming on and via the multifunction screen node in the form of a message in the display. The system consists of:- four pressure sensors on the wheel rims transmitting a code via radiofrequency (R.F.) and allowing the pressure to be measured;- an R.F. signal reception and management control unit located inside the steering column switch unit. The control unit is capable of analyzing the correct operation of each sensor following a lack of response or if new sensors are being programmed. The sensors are designed to prevent possible false alarms caused by differences in pressure due to climatic and environmental conditions.
The tyre pressure monitoring system is managed by control unit M047.The aerials involved in receiving the signals for the right front wheel (pins 1 and 2), the left front wheel (pins 1 and 2) and the rear wheels (pin 1) are connected to the control unit M047 (pins 12-15, 13-14, 10-11 respectively).Control unit M047 (pin 7) receives a power supply from the Body computer node M001 (pin 2 connector F) through a line protected by fuse F09 and communicates (pins 9 and 18), via the CAN line, with M001 (pins 8 and 10 connector D), with the instrument panel E050 (pins 6 and 12) and with the milometer warning lights control unit M140 (pins 2 and 5).The control units M050 (pin 4) and M140 (pin 13) receive a power supply from the Body computer node M001 (pin 6 connector D) via a line protected by fuse F14.
