The vehicle is prepared for the installation of a "CONNECT NAV" system: it involves a radio built into the CONNECT device and a navigator with pictogramsThe telephone system includes:GSM module and SIM CARD reader built into the radio;navigator module with pictograms incorporated in the radio;hands-free function via the radio speakers;microphone located in the front courtesy light;GSM/GPS exterior aerial.The navigation system makes it possible to know the position of the vehicle at any time. In this way the driver can be guided to their desired destination, step by step, through voice messages and visual information. The system also provides additional information for reaching general services, namely: hotels, carparks, restaurants, chemists, service stations, hospitals, authorized workshops, railway stations, airports, etc.The navigation system uses GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite technology consisting of an aerial that allows the GPS satellite location of the vehicle: the aerial is connected to a receiver located in the integrated unit by means of a special shielded cable. The aerial is fitted at the rear of the roof: it has two functions (GSM/GPS) because it also incorporates the GSM aerial for the CONNECT systemVehicle position is identified by analysing GPS data together with speedometer and reverse gear signals received from the vehicle.The navigation CD-ROM drive is located in the radio assembly.768the navigation system only works with the CD-ROM inserted in the special drive; it is therefore possible to listen to a music CD during navigation. In this case, the navigation function requires the map CD to be inserted whilst carrying out the route calculation procedures.The main radio controls are duplicated on the steering wheel allowing the driver to operate the radio without taking their hands off the steering wheel.The special controls for the Connect function are on a special control knob located in the centre of the dashboard next to the climate control system controls.A cooling fan ensures the necessary exchange of air in the area of the radio, preventing it from overheating.The Connect radio system is, to all intents and purposes, a CAN node and is connected to the body computer, the instrument panel and the multifunction screen where information relating to the radio is displayed.A special CD cartridge allows up to 6 CDs to be loaded which are then selected through the radio controls. Operational Description - CONNECT - Fiat ULYSSE 2.2 16V JTD fino a 04/03

The body computer node M001 provides a direct supply, from pin 1 connector D, to the radio Connect P020, pin 4 connector D, via the line protected by fuse F11 of the body computer.It converses, from pins 5 and 2 of connector D, via the CAN, with the milometer and warning lights control unit node M140, at pins 6 and 3 and with the instrument panel E050.A power supply for the CAN is received at pin 6 connector D from the body computer node M001 from pin 3 connector D from the line protected by fuse F20 of the control unit.The radio P020 is connected (switched power supply) to the aerial P025 from pin 3 connector D and to earth at pin 8.The Connect radio P020 is connected, via connector C, to the various speakers located inside the vehicle:from pins 1, 5 it is connected to the speakers P048 (right rear tweeter) and P121 (right rear speaker);it is connected, from pins 2, 6, to the speakers P036 (speaker in right front door) and P046 (right front tweeter);it is connected, from pins 3, 7, to the speakers P035 (speaker in left front door) and P045 (left front tweeter);from pins 4, 8 it is connected to the speakers P047 (left rear tweeter) and P120 (left rear speaker);Pins 2 and 8 of connector A are connected to speaker P035 also used for the hands-free function in the telephone mode.The Connect P020 is connected, from pins 3, 9 connector A, to the microphone P027; pin 3 is the reference earth, whilst pin 9 is the audio signal input.Pins 1, 7 supply the outside fan N160.The multifunction screen M172 displays the information supplied by the Connect in a graphic format. Pins 6 and 4 of the screen are connected at pins 5 and 12 connector A of the Connect P025 and form a CAN connection; pin 3 of M172 is connected to pin 6 connector A of the Connect P020 (stand-by signal). Pins 1, 2 are connected to pins 1, 7 connector D of the Connect P020 and receive the power supply and the reference earth, respectively.The radio P020 is connected, via connector B, to the CD changer P075. Pins 7, 2 and 9 are used for the exchange of data via the CAN. From pins 1, 3 the radio P020 provides the CD changer with a reference earth and direct battery supply, respectively. Pins 4 and 10 are the left and right audio inputs, respectively. Pin 8 is the earth reference of the audio channel.The control panel M160 is connected to the Connect P020 at pins 12, 11, 6 of connector B via the CAN.The radio/GSM aerial P111 is connected to connector E of P020.It is possible, via the steering wheel node M093, to control several of the radio functions using the radio controls on the steering wheel; this information is sent by the steering wheel node control unit M093 to the body computer node M001, via the CAN which connects the two control units.
