DescriptionThe car is equipped with numerous self-diagnostic electronic control units. When a tester (Examiner or other instrument) is connected to the control units, self-diagnostic data can be read (parameters, errors) or active testing can be carried out.All tester lines are connected to the EOBD (European On Board Diagnosis) connector in line with EC directive 98/69 - ISO standard J1962, centralised on the Body Computer - connector G.Nodes conected to the network are connected via the B-CAN while the vehicle dynamic control network is tested via special K lines. The following are controlled via the B-CAN network:underfacia control unit;instrument panel;door control unit;radio or integrated radio-phone-navigation system device;climate control system ECU. For more details 3023163SeeE1050CAN CONNECTION LINES . The following are controlled via tester line K:engine management control unit;ABS control unit;Airbag control unit;SELESPEED control unit (if fitted).the gas discharge headlamp control units (if fitted)
Functional description The centralised EOBD tester connector is built into Body Computer M1 - connector G. it is supplied directly at pin 16 from a line from fuse F39 of underfacia control unit B2; pins 4 and 5 are earthed. Pin 1 is connected by line K to the ABS control unit M50 3023586SeeE7020ABS Pin 3 is connected by line K to the Air Bag control unit M60 3023634SeeE7030AIRBAG Pin 7 is connected by line K to the engine management control unit M10 See E5030 PETROL ENGINE ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT or 3023500SeeE5050DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT Pin 7 is also connected to the SELESPEED control unit M54 if fitted3023642SeeE7051ROBOTIZED GEARBOX If fitted, the gas discharge headlamp control units F10 and F11 are connected to pin 12 3023341SeeE3080HEADLAMP AGLINMENT CORRECTOR Pins 6 and 14 are connected to the B-CAN network. Underfacia control unit B2 , instrument panel E50 , door control unit H44 , rear electric windows control unit M82, radio (or built in radio-telephone-navigator) P20 and climate control ECU M70 are monitored and 'diagnosed' via this network. Pins 2 and 10 are supplied for testing via the C-CAN network, which is not used in this version.

Follow these precautions:769768768

5530B18

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour: a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery; a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For further details, see DESCRIPTION ANDOPERATION - 5580.768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360'). Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows:If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery (see op.). 5530B10).If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery (see op. 5530B14).If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
