The vehicle is equipped with numerous electronic control units with an autodiagnostic function. When a diagnostic tester (Examiner or other device) is connected to these control units, self-diagnosis data can be read (parameters, errors) or the available active diagnostic tests can be carried out.All the diagnostic lines flow into the EOBD connector (European On Board Diagnosis) which conforms with Directive 98/69/CE (EURO 3) - ISO standard J1962 in the Body Computer connector C of M1.The same connector is responsible for the fault diagnosis of the nodes (control units) connected to the low transmission speed B-CAN, while the fault diganosis of the dynamic control high transmission speed C-CAN is carried out by means of a specific K line.The following are checked via the B-CAN line:- junction unit under the dashboard;- instrument panel;- door control units;- seat control units;- steering wheel controls;- radio/navigator unit- climate control sytem control unit;- Air Bag control unit;- parking sensor control unit;- steering lock control unit- TEG ReaderFor more detailsThe following are monitored via individual diagnostic K lines:- engine management control unit;- ABS control unit;- automatic transmission control unit (only on versions with Automatic Transmission);- xenon headlamps control units (if fitted)

The EOBD central tester output is built into Body Computer M1 connector C.It is supplied directly by the battery at pin 16 of the line protected by fuse F39 of underfacia junction unit B2 ; pins 4 and 5 are earthed.Pin 1 is connected to the K line at ABS control unit M50 (pin 6)Pin 7 is connected, via the K line, to the engine management control unit M10Pin 7 is also connected through the K line to the automatic transmission control unit M55 (only on versions with Automatic Transmission)Pin 12 is connected by the K line to the management control units for the xenon headlamps F10 and F11.767The remaining outlets for other possible K lines are not used on this version.Pin 6 and 14 are connected to the B-CAN network: this network controls and "diagnoses" the junction unit under the dashboard B2, the instrument panel E50, the driver''s door control unit M66, the passenger door control unit M67 and the boot control unit M63, the controls for the seats H66 and H67, the TEG Reader H3, the steering lock control unit M89, the radio or the built-in radio-telephone-navigator P20 and the controls on the steering wheel D47, the climate control system control unit M70, the Air Bag control unit M60 and the parking sensors control unit M84.
