DescriptionThe rear door electrically-operated windowscan be operated by switches on the front driver's door or switcheslocated on each of the rear doors.Operation of the rear electrically-operatedwindows is manual (the window is raised/lowered only when the switchis pressed). For safety reasons, a special lock switchon the front driver's door cuts off power to all switches to preventaccidental activation from the rear seats, e.g. when children arepresent. The rear electric windows circuit is protectedby two specific fuses and controlled by a relay which supplies otherignition-key operated services. The fuse is located inside the junctionunit, and the relay is located on the right hand side of the facia. The rear electrically-operated windows willwork only when the key is turned to MAR.The control switch symbols are lit whenthe key is turned to MAR.
Functional description The optional services relay J60 controlsthe circuit for the rear electric windows (as well as the sun roofand heated seats: see 3234128SeeE3060SUN ROOF e 3234156SeeE3075HEATED SEATS ). . The coil of the relay J60 is energizedwhen the ignition is switched on (INT/A) by the line for fuse B10 upto 2/99 or fuse F6 of the additional fuse box B98B from2/99, while the supply at the relay contact arrives from the battery, throughthe line for maxifuse J/B2 (of B5 up to 2/99 or B99 from2/99). This supply passes through the rear electricwindow fuses B17 and B18 up to 2/99 or F2 and F3 of B98B from 2/99, which guarantee the protection of the circuit, and arrives at the switches on the driver's door ( H45 leftand H46 right). The supply of the switches is therefore controlledby the ignition (INT/A) and they are connected to earth C20 (inthis way they are also lit up when the ignition is switched on). When these switches are operated, they sendcommand signals (positive and negative) to the switches in the reardoors and from there to the (left) N65 and right N66 motors:reversing the signals according to the contact which is closed determinesthe direction of rotation of the actual motor. The same supply controlled by the ignition(INT/A) also reaches the switches in the rear doors H53 and H54 ,passing through the safety switch H55 , but only if it isin the go ahead position. If this is not the case, the supply tothe rear door switches is stopped. As with the front switches, when the rearswitches are activated, they send command signals (positive andnegative) to the (left) N65 and (right) N66 motors:reversing the signals according to the contact which has been closed, determinesthe direction of rotation of the actual motor.

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour:a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery;a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For more details 3238420See subassembly5530 CURRENT GENERATOR . 768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360').Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows: If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery ( 32384295530B10battery - r+r ). If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery ( 32384305530B14battery - recharge ). If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
