DescriptionThe simultaneous operation of thefour lock motors takes place upon a command:from the keyfrom the front door switches (knobs);from the remote controlLock operation is controlled by the integratedservices control unit, located on the left under the dashboard. The control unit monitors lock status bymeans of signals received from switches located on the four locks(these signals are also used to time the lighting). A lock commandis issued only when all doors are properly closed and the frontlocks are released. Conversely, a release command is issued only whenthe front catches are locked. Conversely, a release command is issued onlywhen the front catches are locked. The control unit also runs a seriesof safety checks:switch position is checked at the end of each operation. If this position does not agree with the action carried out (e.g.if a door is open), a repulsion command is issued, i.e. the oppositemanoeuvre is carried out to realign all the locks.if the control unit detects too many complete, consecutivelock/release manoeuvres - at least 8 within 20 seconds - the systemcuts in to limit the manoeuvres: the system is inhibited in releaseposition for 30 seconds.if battery voltage drops below 9 V during a lock/releaseoperation, the system suspends the operation. If battery voltageis lower than 9 V at the outset, no command is issued. The door lock circuit is protected by aspecial fuse located in the junction unit. The remote control receiver has supplies(direct and controlled by the ignition) protected by two fuses locatedin the junction unit.
Functional description The integrated services control unit M40 whichmanages the operation of the central locking. The direct supply for the control unit M40 (pin8 of connector B) arrives directly from the battery via the lineprotect by maxifuse J/B2 (of B5 up to 2/99 or B99 from2/99) and fuse F8 of the junction unit B1 .; pin 13of connector B provides the reference earth. The receiver of the remote control M35 receivesa supply controlled by the ignition (INT) from the line for fuse F1 ofthe junction unit B1 and directly from the battery via theline of the maxifuse J/B1 (of B5 up to 2/99 or B99 from2/99) and fuse F10 of the junction unit B1 . The control unit M40 receives thefollowing inputs:commands coming from the front locks N50 and N51 forlocking (pin 15 of connector B) or for unlocking (pin 16 of connectorB) the doors;signals on the state of the door locks coming from thefour geared motors N50 , N51 , N55 and N56 ,respectively at pins 3 and 2 of connector B and 3 and 7 of connectorC. (3233915SeeE2510COURTESY LIGHTS).(only with remote control) the signals from the remotecontrol M35 receiver for locking (pin 6 of connector C) orfor unlocking (pin 15 of connector C); In accordance with the logic described above, the control unit M40 controls the locks: the signals forthe motors of the front doors ( N50 and N51 ) and rear doors( N55 ed N 56 ) come from pins 4 and 5 of connector B.

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour:a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery;a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For more details 3238420See subassembly5530 CURRENT GENERATOR . 768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360').Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows: If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery ( 32384295530B10battery - r+r ). If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery ( 32384305530B14battery - recharge ). If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
