DescriptionThe radio system includes:radio supply cables:separate front power and tweeter speakers, located inthe doors;rear speakers, located in the doors;leads connecting the radio to the speakers;aerial built into the heated rear windscreen by meansof a suitable electronic device and connected to the radio by meansof a coaxial cable. The radio circuit is supplied with the keyturned to the ON position, or directly from the battery (which allowstuning settings, security codes, etc. to be stored). The above two lines are protected by twofuses in the junction unit.In addition to the radio there is also asupply with the side lights on to light up the radio controls. The following is also fitted, accordingto the trim level:RADIO with CC or CD.3234201SeeE3510RADIOStandard CONNECT device3234394SeeE4091CONNECTRadio with NAVIGATOR3234390SeeE4090NAVIGATORCONNECT with NAVIGATOR3234390SeeE4090NAVIGATORA sophisticated 'Bose' HI FI system withspecial speakers and an outside amplifier is available on request. The system has been developed ad hoc forthe vehicle: the acoustic properties of the passenger compartmenthave been carefully designed so that the amplifier and the speakersare perfectly suited to the vehicle: the sound is excellent throughoutthe passenger compartment.Unlike the system fitted as standard, the Bose system includes:mid-range speakers in the front doors with tweeters incorporatedwide-range speakers in the rear doorsrear woofer speakerhigh power amplifier For further details see 3232969Characteristicof working principle5570Tcar radio and car telephone . The other components (aerial, steering wheelradio controls, connection with CD player, etc.) are the same asthose for the standard system 3234201SeeE3510RADIO .
Functional description The radio P20 is supplied directly(pins 7 of connector A) by the battery via the line for fuse F10 ofthe junction unit B1 and the maxifuse J/B1 of B99 . It receives a supply when the ignition isswitched on (INT) (pin 4 of connector A) via the line for fuse F1 ofthe junction unit B1 . With the side lights switched on, the supplyreaches pin 6 of connector A by means of the line coming from theswitch for the steering column switch unit H5 , protectedby the controls illumination fuse F1 of the additional fusebox B98 B ; the radionavigator controls are therefore litup when the lide lights are switched on. Pin 8 of connector A, on the other hand,is earthed ( C20 ). Pin 5 of connector A is connected to thecontrol unit P22 which controls the aerial built into theheated rear windscreen. The control unit P22 is then connectedto the radio by means of the specific aerial lead. Pin 2 of connector A of P20 receives,as an input, a supply which acts as a signal recognising the presenceof the Bose system. The amplifier P70 is supplied directlyby the battery via the line protected by fuse F4 of the additionalfuse box B98 C . It is then connected by a special line tothe radio P20 - pin 6 of connector C - which sends the signalto switch on the amplifier. Connector B of P20 sends out signalsto the 'Bose' HIFI system amplifier P70 which, in turn, isconnected to the speakers: P35 , P40 , P41 and P36 .

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour:a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery;a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For more details 3238420See subassembly5530 CURRENT GENERATOR . 768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360').Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows: If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery ( 32384295530B10battery - r+r ). If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery ( 32384305530B14battery - recharge ). If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
