The remote control key has 3 buttons which make it possible to operate the central locking system: one button for unlocking the doors, one for locking the vehicle and one for releasing the boot; 2399262SeeE3045BOOT AND FUEL FLAP OPENINGThe door unlocking/locking strategy is carried out by two door control units and by the luggage compartment control unit (for the rear doors) which control the effective state of the locks through the signals arriving from the switches in the actual locks and the key pawl: in this way, the 'lock' command is only issued when all the doors are properly closed and the locks released; conversely, the 'release' command is only issued when the locks are locked;The two door lock/release button located in the centre of the dashboard work in the same way as the controls sent via key.The fuel filler is also locked/unlocked at the same time as the doors, controlled by the same logic as the driver's door.The locks come with an auxiliary motor that is used for the Dead-lock function. The Dead Lock makes it possible to mechanically disconnect the door interior opening handles so that the door cannot be opened from the inside (e.g. after the glass has been broken in a theft attempt; the dead lock also inhibits the operation of the door locking/unlocking buttons in the dashboard. The dead lock function is engaged using the key the moment the doors are locked, by turning the key a second time within 1 second of the locking manoeuvre.An LED to the side of the above two controls issues the following signals:Catches locked: the LED lights up for 3 seconds. If, when the locks are locked some of the doors or the boot is not properly shut, then the LED will flash at 3 Hz for 3 seconds;Dead lock engagement: the LED flashes twice for 0.5 seconds;Unlocking the locks: the LED goes outThe instrument panel downloads a door status signal from the CAN and turns on the door open warning light and the information is shown, at the same time, in the display; if one of the doors or the boot or bonnet lid is open and the vehicle speed is above around 4 Km/h then an acoustic signal is also emitted.A special instrument panel feature can be used to decide whether to release all doors or only the driver side front door while all other doors and the boot remain locked.When setting the unlocking of the driver's door it is also possible to unlock the other doors by turning the key a second time within 1 second of unlocking the driver's door.A special instrument panel feature can be used to enable/disable the door lock beyond a set speed threshold (30 km/h). In this case the Body Computer activates the door lock beyond the set threshold.When the speed returns below the threshold, the doors and the boot remain locked; after one of the doors is opened, the function is re-enabled and when the threshold is exceeded, the doors are locked once again.It is possible to select the boot release operating mode using the special setup:boot unlocking controlled by the central locking: the tailgate is considered, to all intents and purposes, as a fifth door;independent boot release: the boot is locked when the doors are locked, whilst it is possible to unlock it independently of the unlocking of the doors.2399262SeeE3045BOOT AND FUEL FLAP OPENING.The doors are automatically released if the inertia switch is activated: the instrument panel receives a signal from the switch, lights up the relevant warning light and communicates the activation to the Body Computer via the CAN network.The door lock circuit is protected by a special fuse located in the unit under the dashboard.The remote control receiver aerial is connected directly to the Body Computer which contains the electronics for the actual receiver.
Functional description The door locking/unlocking function is controlled by the driver's door control unit M66 connected, via the CAN line, to the Body Computer M1. The control unit M66 is supplied at pin 7 of connector C from the line protected by fuse F36 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2 and at pin 2 of connector C by the line protected by fuse F32 of B2. Pins 1 and 8 of connector C of M66 are earthed. Control unit M66 receives the following inputs:the 'lock' signals from the knobs, at pins 9 and 8 of connector B of M66;the locking/unlocking signals from the key pawl, at pins 1-2 of connector B of M66;the negative signals from the locking/unlocking buttons, located in the control panel on the tunnel H35, at pins 3 and 4 of connector B of M66;the signals coming from the aerial-receiver P93 , which is connected to pins 21 and 31 of connector B of M1 . In accordance with the control logic illustrated, the control unit M66 controls the geared motors for the door locks: the shared supply to the motors is sent from pin 4 and 12 of connector C; the locking/unlocking motors (B/S) are operated from pins 9 and 5 of connector C; the dead lock motors (DL) for the four locks N50 , N51 , N55 and N56 are operated from pins 3 and 11 of connector C. The LED next to the controls on the tunnel H35 is activated by a positive command from pin 13 of connector A of M66. Fuel flap opening motor N58 is controlled via the same strategy as that used for the front driver's door catch from pins 6 and 10 of connector C of M66 . The aerial-receivier P93 sends the Body Computer M1 the signal to open/close the doors and also windows and sunroof, by connecting to pins 21 and 31 of connector B. Intervention of inertia switch I50 is indicated to pin 17 of connector D of Body Computer M1 : this signal also causes door opening.
