DescriptionIn the case of poor visibility, it is possible to activate demisting of the rear window and the door mirrors.The heating resistances for these components absorb a considerable amount of energy and they are therefore checked and deactivated after a certain period: the defrosting is timed, according to the following logic, managed by the Body Computer:ignition ON (INT/A);activation signal from the relevant button, located on the climate control system control panel.In these circumstances the resistances remain supplied for a maximum of 20 minutes, then the power supply is cut off.The power supply is also cut off under the following conditions:ignition in OFF position;deactivation signal from the relevant button;battery voltage below 8.5 Vafter the first 10 minutes operation, if the engine speed is below 960 rpm.When the demister is on, a warning light on the climate control system control unit is activated.The timed activation (20 minutes) is restored each time the button is operated.The control logic for the climate control system control unit also intervenes for the MAX DEF control in accordance with the logic described previously.The action of the MAX DEF function last 3 minutes starting from when the temperature of the engine exceeds a certain limit.23deactivating the MAX-DEF control only causes the heated rear windscreen to switch off if the command to switch on was given by MAX-DEF; if, on the other hand, the command came from the heated rear windscreen button, it remains on.The rearscreen demisting circuit is controlled by the heated rear windscreen relay and protected by a special fuse located in the junction unit under the dashboard. This circuit is controlled via the strategy described above directly from the Body Computer.The door mirror demisting circuit for is protected by another fuse in the underfacia control unit and is controlled by the door control unit in accordance with a strategy transmitted via the CAN network from the Body Computer.
Functional description The heated rear windscreen relay T11, located in the junction unit under the dashboard B2, controls the engagement of the heated rear windscreen P55 demisting function through the line protected by fuse F40 of junction unit B2. The supply for the coil for relay T11 is 'controlled by the ignition' (INT/A) and is energized by an earth signal coming from the Body Computer M1 - pin 6 of connector F; this signal is sent according to the control logic described previously and when there is an earth signal at pin 32 of connector G of M11 from the heated rear windscreen button or MAX-DEF function on; This signal comes from the climate control system control unit M70 to which the signal for switching on the LED is sent from pin 21 of connector H of M1. Activation of door mirror demister coils P60 and P61 is controlled by driver side door control unit M66 and passenger door control unit M67 , connected via the CAN line to Body Computer M1 . Control units M66 and M67 are supplied at pin 11 of connector D - from a line protected by fuse F32 of underfacia control unit B2 On the basis of the complex strategy described previously, the demister acivation control is sent via the CAN network also to the two door control units that control the coils in the mirrors P60 and P61 - from pins 7 and 9 of connector D of M66 and M67.
