In the case of poor visibility it is possible to activate the demisting of the rearscreen, the exterior rear view mirrors and the lower part of the windscreen.The heating resistances for these components absorb a considerable amount of energy and are therefore controlled and, possibly, deactivated after they have been working for a certain length of time: the demisting is subject to a delay timer, managed by the Body Computer, according to the following logic:- TEG inserted, starting excluded (INT/A);- engagement signal coming from the special button in the climate control system control panel.Under these circumstances the resistances remain supplied for a maximum of 20 minutes, then the supply is cut off.The supply is cut off in the following conditions:- TEG extracted (key-off);- disengagement signal from the button;- battery voltage below 8.5 V;- after the first 15 minutes of operation if the engine speed is below 960 rpm.With the defrosting on the warning light in the climate control system controls also comes on.The activation timer (20 minutes) is set again each time the button is operated.The climate control system control unit logic also intervenes with the "MAX-DEF" command in accordance with the logic described previously.The "MAX-DEF" function lasts for 3 minutes starting from when the engine temperature exceeds a certain limit.

The heated rear windscreen relay T11, located in the junction unit under the dashboard B2, controls the engagement of the heated rear windscreen P55 defrosting resistances via the line protected by fuse F40 of junction unit B2.Similarly, the engagement of the defrosting resistances for the windscreen P56 are operated via the line protected by fuse F41 of junction unit B2 and relay T22 and fuse F59 located in the boot junction unit B45.The coil for relay T11 receives an ignition-operated power supply (INT/A) and is energized by an earth signal coming from the Body Computer M1 - pin 6 of connector F; this signal is sent on the basis of the previously illustrated control logic and in the presence of the heated rear windscreen engagement command or through the MAX-DEF function coming via the CAN from the climate control system control unit M70.The engagement of the defrosting resistances for the door mirrors P60 and P61 is controlled by the control units for the driver''s door M66 and passenger door M67 connected via the CAN line to the Body Computer M1.Control units M66 and M67 receive a supply - at pin 11 of connector D - from the line protected by fuse F32 of underfacia control unit B2 .On the basis of the complex control logic illustrated previously, the engagement command for the defrosting is sent via the CAN to the two door control units as well which control the resistances located in mirrors P60 and P61 from pins 7 and 9 of connector E of M66 and M67.
