The ignition and recharging circuit comprises the battery, starter motor and alternator.A low-maintenance lead battery (12V) is required. When the ignition key is turned as far as it will go (D), the motor windings are supplied to generate the electromagnetic forces that are used to turn the starter motor pinion. This simultaneously activates the electromagnet that operates the mechanism that causes the pinion to mesh with the flywheel ring gear and thus turn the crankshaft. The alternator recharges the battery during normal engine rotation. The alternator shaft (rotor) is turned by the crankshaft via a belt: an induced magnetic field is generated in the fixed winding (stator) that gives rise to an alternating current.A diode rectifier bridge on the back of the alternator allows the alternating current to be converted to a direct current that is sent to recharge the battery.A voltage governor, also built into the alternator, maintains the power supply at a constant voltage (14 V) throughout the load variation and engine speed ranges.
Battery A001supplies engine compartment junction unit B001 at connector A and maxifuse box B006. The fuse box connection is continued to pin 30 of connector A of starter motor A020 andt then on to pin B+ of connector A of alternator A010.Pins 50 of connector B of A020 and D+ of connector B of A010 are connected to pins 2 and 3 of connector C of B001 respectively. Only the first of the two lines is protected by fuse F08.Control unit B001 (pins 5 and 4 of connector D)supplies body computer node M001 (pins 2 and 1 of connector A) by two lines protected by fuses MF05 and MF04 (respectively).Ignition switch H001 (pins 1, 2 and 3) is connected to body computer node M001 (pin 4 connector G, pin 5 connector D and pin 6 connector G respectively).Body computer M001 is stil connected:- by pin 6 of connector G to control unit B001 (pin 9 connector ''F);- it supplies, from pin 6 of connector D, instrument panel E050 (pin 13) and warning light and odometer control unit M140 (pin 4) by a line protected by fuse F14.Body computer M001 (pins 8 and 10 connector D), instrument panel E050 (pins 6 and 12), warning light and odometer control unit M140 (pins 2 and 5) and engine compartment junction unit B001 (pins 11 and 12 connector F) intercommunicate via the CAN line.Interference filter P087 is connected:- at pin 1, to pin 2 of connector B of maxifuse box B006;- at pin 2, with connector A of earth C011 and with pin 19 of connector F of B001.
