The electronic automatic transmission has four forward speeds plus reverse with self-adapting management (i.e. it is capable of adapting to the driving style of the driver) depending on vehicle load and road conditions. The display can show the following:767 Driving where there is snow or ice: when the road holding conditions are poor (snow, ice, etc.) and the special button next to the gear lever is pressed, the display will light up and the vehicle will pull away in second gear.
Automatic transmission control unit M055 controls and regulates the entire gearbox management system. The power supply for the automatic transmission control unit M055 (pin 56) is provided by the Body computer node M001 (pin 11 connector B) and (pin 27) from the engine compartment junction unit B001 (pin 4 connector F) through a line protected by fuse F06.This latter line, also supplies the gear control unit H037 (pin 1 connector B) and the automatic transmission solenoid valve assembly L050 (pin A1).The information is sent via the CAN line from control unit M055 (pins 29-30 for the basic version and pins 29-30, 38-29 for the version with ESP) to the Body computer node M011 (pins 8, 10 connector D), to the engine compartment junction unit B001 (pins 11, 12 connector F), to the instrument panel E050 (pins 6, 12), to the milometer and warning lights control unit M140 (pins 2, 5) and to the other control units involved: engine management M010 and ABS/ESP M050.The Body computer node M001 (pins 1, 2 connector A) receives a power supply from the engine compartment junction unit B001 (pins 4, 5 connector D respectively) through two lines protected by fuses MF4 and MF5 (respectively) and provides a power supply (pin 6 connector D) for the instrument panel E050 (pin 13) and the milometer and warning lights control unit M140 (pin 4) through a line protected by fuse F14.The ignition switch H001 is connected (pins 2, 1, 3 respectively) to the body computer M001 (pin 5 connector D, pins 4 and 6 connector G).The gear lever lock actuator relay feed J007 (pins 1B, 5B) receives a power supply from the Body computer node M001 (pin 10 connector B).This same actuator J007 (pins 2B, 3B respectively) is still connected to the automatic transmission control unit M055 (pin 11) and to the automatic transmission lever lock solenoid L058 (pin 1).The solenoid valve unit L050 only allows starting in certain conditions (e.g. if the brake pedal is pressed). The brake pedal switch I030 is connected:- at pin 1, to the additional fuse box B098 (pin G31 connector B) from which it receives a power signal via a line protected by fuse F31;- at pin 2, to the Body computer node M001 (pin 4 connector B) and to the automatic transmission control unit M055 (pin 43).The KEY LOCK signal (locking of starting if the gearbox is in a position other than P or N), is supplied by the automatic transmission solenoid valve assembly L050 (pin A5) to junction unit B001 (pin 15 connector F).Once the brake pedal pressed and gearbox in position P or N signal is received, the junction unit B001 commands starting (pins 2, 3 connector C).The automatic transmission control unit M055 (pins 15, 31, 32, 33, 42, 53, 54, 14, 13, 8, 7, 1, 9, 10, 20, 19, 26, 25, 55, 24, 46, 45, 12, 2) communicates with the solenoid valve assembly L050 (pins A3, A10, A11, A12, A7, B4, B1, B2, B5, B7, B10, B3, B8, B11, B9, B6, B12, C3, C2, C1, D2, D1, E2, E1) by means of numuerous signals: the latter contains the control valves, the pressure regulators and several sensors. The management of the transmission may be completely automatic (managed by M055) or semi-automatic, in other words setting the gears by means of the gear control unit H037: pins 4 and 5 of connector B are connected to pins 37 and 36 (respectively) of the automatic transmission control unit M055 informing it of the management to be carried out.The engagement of the "snow" function takes place by pressing the special button located in unit H037 (pin 1 connector A) connected to the Body computer node M001 (pin 5 connector I).The Body computer node M001 notifies control unit M055 (via the CAN line) that the function has been switched on and supplies (pin 7 connector D) the LED in the gear control unit H037 (pin 2 connector A).The autodiagnosis of the control unit M055 (pin 18) can be carried out by connecting to the diagnostic socket R010 (pin 7).
