DescriptionThe front seats may be optionally fitted with a special heating system (consisting of two heater elements located in the cushion and squab): these heat the seat to ease the discomfort of entering a cold passenger compartment in very cold weather, e.g. when the car is left outside for long periods during winter. The heating device located in each seat consists of two resistors operated by a switch located on the outside of each seat.Once a certain temperature is reached, the heating action is automatically cut off by a thermal contact inside the device. An LED located on the button itself indicates when the resistors are switched on.The circuit is controlled by the services relay and is protected by a specific fuse, both located in the unit under the dashboard. The heating is switched on both when the ignition is on and when the ignition is off. With the ignition on during starting, this relay is temporarily deactivated. With the ignition off, the Body Computer keeps the relay activated - which also supplies the door mirrors and electric windows - for 3 minutes, but deactivates it immediately when one of the two front doors is opened. The switching on of the resistors is disabled if the battery voltage is less than 10 V.
Functional description The services relay T13, located in the unit under the dashboard B2 , supplies, via the line protected by fuse F45, the seat heating control devices, via connections D70 and D71 . The switching on logic described above is controlled by the Body Computer M1 - pin 14 of connector F.

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour: a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery; a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For further details, see DESCRIPTION ANDOPERATION - 5580.768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360'). Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows:If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery (see op.). 5530B10).If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery (see op. 5530B14).If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
