DescriptionThe intruder alarm system offers volumetric and perimeter protection. In effect, an electronic control unit checks:status of doors, boot and bonnet via switches in the locks (perimeter control)the presence of a moving object inside the passenger compartment, via volumetric sensors. (volumetric control)the condition of the system supply cables (both directly from the battery and those controlled by the ignition);the condition of emergency key supply leads;the operation of the ignition switch. The control unit is equipped with a self-test function which detects and memorizes faults in the control unit itself and the system components and also checks the condition of the connecting cables. The control unit also memorizes the number of times the alarm is activated and set off.The control unit operating software may be altered to meet regulations governing the use of alarm systems applicable in different markets. The electronic control unit incorporates a siren and is located in the right lower part of the luggage compartment (not visible). It is accessible via a flap in the trim. The receiver is an electronic device which receives the transmitter signal. It is located in the parcel shelf under the third brake light cover. It is connected to the control unit via the serial line and directly manages the following system functions:it receives, decodes and manages the remote control signalsit locks and unlocks the doorsit memorizes the codes for enabled transmitters. The receiver also has its own self-test function which detects and memorizes faults in the actual receiver and the components connected to it and it checks the condition of the connecting cables.A device for deactivating the system by means of an emergency key is located on the control unit where is is protected by a cap. It cuts out the system, for example in the case of repair interventions. The same switches as for the central locking system are used to control the doors and lids. A special switch is also located on the bonnet catch. The volumetric sensors check for car intruders. They are located on either side of the front courtesy light. Both sensors are double, i.e. they comprise an emitter and a receiver. A wave transmitted by an emitter is received by the receiver on the other sensor and vice versa. Otherwise an alarm signal is sent to the control unit. The dissuasion LED is located in the dashboard, in the centre above the air vent and signals the state of the system (on, off, etc.) plus any faults. Direct and ignition-operated alarm system control unit supply lines are protected by three fuses located in the junction unit.
Functional description The alarm system is controlled by alarm control unit M30 integral with the siren. The control unit is supplied directly by the battery at pin 3 of connector A from the line protected by fuse F17 and at pin 7 of connector B (supply for the direction indicators) from the line protected by fuse F8 ; both fuses are located in the junction unit B1 . An ignition-operated power supply (INT/A) reaches pin 12 of connector B of control unit M30 . through a line protected by fuse F5 of control unit B1 . Pin 9 of connector A is earthed. Control unit M30 controls door closure via switches N50, N55, N51, N56, which send an earth signal to pins 8, 15, 9 and 16 of connector B respectively when the door is open (the same switches turn on the door open indication leds ( 3309286SeeE2510COURTESY LIGHTS ). The bonnet lid is controlled by switch I10 , which is connected to pin 18 of connector B, while the boot lid is controlled by switch I11 , which is connected to pin 17 of connector B (the same switch turns on the boot light: 3309318SeeE2520GLOVE COMPARTMENT LIGHT - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LIGHT - SUN VISOR LIGHT ). Volumetric sensor unit K62 receives supply and earth signals from pins 8 and 11 of connector A of M30 , and sends on the alarm control signal to pin 12 of connector A of M30 . Pin 1 of connector A of M30 sends alarm led control signal E40 . Pins 1 and 2 of connector B of M30 produce control signals for turn signals ( 3309161SeeE2020DIRECTION INDICATORS / HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS ). Remote control receiver M35 is supplied directly from the battery at pin 3. An ignition-operated power supply (INT/A) reaches pin 7 of M35 via a line protected by fuse F5 of control unit B1 . Pin 4 is earthed. M35 (pins 5 and 6) issue door lock and door release signals ( 3309443SeeE3040CENTRAL LOCKING ). Pin 10 of M35 controls the opening of the boot, receiving the signal from the specific button located on the ignition key. Control unit M30 and receiver M35 are both equipped with a self-diagnostic system that may be used by connecting to connector R10 , pin 11. This receives signals from pin 6 of connector A of M30 and from pin 2 of remote control receiver M35 . This serial line also acts as a connection between M30 and M35 .
