DescriptionThe rearscreen wiper is operated by turning the ring nut on the end of the lever located on the right of the steering wheel. The operation of the rearscreen wiper motor is controlled intermittently by the electronic device inside the steering column switch unit which also manages the windscreen wash/wipe: the activation of the rearscreen wiper is synchronized with the windscreen wiper, but the frequency is half that of the windscreen wiperBy pushing the lever gently towards the steering wheel the rearscreen washer function is activated; the same (two-way) pump is used as for the windscreen washer, but it rotates in the opposite direction and sends the detergent fluid to the rear, following the same control logic: the rearscreen wiper is activated the, as the rearscreen washer command is over, an additional stroke is carried out. When the windscreen wiper is working, engaging reverse gear automatically activates the rearscreen wiper: this function is managed by the Body Computer which forwards this information, coming from the reversing lights function control logic, to the electronic device in the steering column switch unit 2399188SeeE2022REVERSING LIGHTS . The rearscreen wash/wipe can only be operated with the ignition switched ON. The windscreen wash/wipe circuit is protected by a specific fuse and is operated by the ignition-operated relay located in the underdashboard control unit. The rearscreen wash/wipe can be operated with the ignition ON (INT/A).
Functional descriptionThe electronic device inside the steering column switch unit H5 and the controls on the right lever are supplied at pin 11 of connector A by the line 'controlled by the ignition' (INT/A) of relay T12 protected by fuse F43, both housed in the underdashboard control unit B2. The electronic section of the steering column switch unit H5 which manages the rearscreen wiper function is supplied at pin 12 of connector C from the same line 'controlled by the ignition' (INT/A) for the relay T12 protected by the fuse F52, housed in the underdashboard junction unit B2. Pin 7 of connector A and pin 9 of connector C of H5 are earthed. When the rearscreen wiper function is switched on, the steering column switch unit H5 sends the control signal to the rearscreen wiper motor N16 from pin 1 of connector B; pin 2, on the other hand, receives the earth signal coming from the motor end of travel cam which stops operation. The motor N16 is then earthed. The rearscreen washer switch on the steering column switch unit H5, when operated, sends two signals from pin 10 and 12 of connector A, which operate the windscreen washer pump N22 which sends the detergent liquid to the rear. Pin 3 of connector A receives the (positive) signal coming from the Body Computer M1 pin 1 of connector A which implements the automatic operation of the rearscreen wiper with reverse gear engaged SeeE2022 REVERSING LIGHTS .
