Description - ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL - Fiat STILO 1.9 JTD 8v Fino a 06/02
The Cruise Control function - constant speed governor - allows the driver to drive the car at a constant speed without pressing the accelerator pedal.This version of CruiseControladapative also offers the possibility, thanks to "radar" located in the front bumper, of detecting the proximity of a vehicle and, of deciding to overtake it automatically.The function is managed by the engine control unit. This receives commands from a Cruise Control lever on the left of the steering wheel beneath the stalk switch unit.The function is engaged by turning the wheel (ON).When a speed is set ( SET + , SET - ), the setting is saved and may be called up at any time ( RCL ).The HV (headway) button switches the overtaking function on.The function is automatically deactivated:by pressing the brake pedal;by pressing the clutch pedal;by turning the wheel to OFF;by switching off the engine;
In such cases, the last speed achieved is stored and can be recalled by pressing the RCL button.Unlike the conventional system, the adaptive system also intervenes and brakes the vehicle, sending signals to the ABS control unit.With the system activated, the warning light in the instrument panel comes on, connected via the CAN to the engine management control unit.For more details Description and Operation 5580A CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM
Operational description - ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL - Fiat STILO 1.9 JTD 8v Fino a 06/02
The basic Cruise Control function is managed by the engine management control unit M10 by the special Cruise Control command H7 located to the left of the steering wheel.The control H7 receives an ignition-controlled power supply (INT) pin 2 from the line protected by fuse F35 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2 .The control H7 is connected to control unit M10:at pin 53 of connector A, with the ON/OFF signalat pin 55 of connector A, with the RESUME signalat pin 56 of connector A, with the SET + signalat pin 57 of connector A, with the SET - signal
The adaptive Cruise Control is controlled by the special control unit M87 and receives an ignition-controlled power supply (INT) pin 12 from the line protected by fuse F35 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2 .Pin 1 is earthed and the diagnostic K line leaves from pin 11 and the CAN line from pins 2 and 4.Pin 9 receives the headway control signal from the Cruise Control H7.The control unit M10 also uses the "pedal released" signals (N.C. contact) coming from the second brake lights switch contact I30 and the signal coming from the clutch switch I31 to manage the Cruise Control function. The engine management control unit M10 is connected to the Body Computer M1 and to the instrument panel E50, via the CAN line, to manage the "Cruise Control on" warning light and the "adapative Cruise Control failure" functon.
