DescriptionThe cruise control function allows the car to be driven at the required speed without pressing the accelerator pedal. This reduces driver fatigue on motorways, particularly on long trips, because the set speed is maintained automatically. The Cruise Control function is controlled by the engine management unit by means of a Cruise Control switch located to the left of the steering wheel. The cruise control can only be activated if the car speed is over 30 km/h; when the function is switched on, the warning light on the instrument panel comes on.The function is automatically deactivated in the following cases:by pressing the brake pedal;by pressing the clutch pedal;by inadvertently moving the automatic transmission lever to position N . When the ignition key is turned to STOP or the switch on the lever is turned to OFF , the saved speed is deleted and the system is deactivated. The Cruise Control power supply lines are protected by two fuses in the junction unit.
Functional description The Cruise Control function is controlled by engine management unit M10 upon a command from the Cruise Control switch H7 located to the left of the steering wheel. Control H7 is ignition-operated (INT/A) from a line protected by fuse F5 in junction unit B1 . Control H7 is connected to management unit M10:to pin 24 of connector D, with 'OFF' signalto pin 22 of connector D, with 'RECALL' signalto pin 20 of connector D, with 'SET+' signalto pin 21 of connector D, with 'SET-' signal Pin 23 of connector D of M10 receives a signal from the second contact of brake light switch I30 , ignition-operated (INT/A) through a line protected by fuse F1 in junction unit B1 . For management of the Cruise Control function, the control unit also uses a signal from pin 19 of connector D of M10 from clutch pedal switch I31 and signals from accelerator pedal potentiometer K55 connected to pins 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27 of connector C of M10. ( 3309814SeeE5030PETROL ENGINE ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT ) Engine management unit M10 , sends a signal - pin 10 of connector E to instrument E50 - pin 12 of connector A - which turns on the CRUISE warning light when the system is working.
